NEW OLD MODELS FOUND |
The tag says it all. It's all about older models which I have discovered only recently. |
Maisto has as did many other manufacturers of 3'' models offered several cars in multi car packs. Here is an example of a golden Volvo 760 GLE together with a Mercedes Class S in this blister on cardboard. Maisto sold this and 9 other sets under the label 'Motor Works'. The name of these sets changed however over the time. Each set consisted of different cars. A picture on the rear of the cardboard shows all the available sets. This set was released around 1996 under item # 15080.

I have been able to find once again a few more sets by Majorette featuring a Volvo 760 and a horse trailer. The newly found sets are :

I'm sure that more versions exist. I will present them as soon as I have found any. Just have a look at the database to see other versions ( color, packaging, ... ). You are looking here at a side by side of Volvo 244 DL scale models by Playart. This overview gives a colorful view of the various color shades once produced.
This model has also been produced in brown, orange, red metallic, lime and white. This 244 DL has also been manufactured without opening doors. It has later been produced by Yatming featuring opening doors.
And yet another episode of the Volvo 760 story by Majorette. The following two photos are showing two liveries that are not yet featured in the database.
Here is yet another a set by Corgi. It contains a red Volvo 245 break with black interior and a red caravan. Both 3'' models are packed in a blister on cardboard. I was told by the owner that this color combo which has been released in 1984 is rather rare and harder to find as the one in cream or in turquoise. The one in cream ( with cream caravan ) was released in 1973 and the one in turquoise ( with cream caravan having a white roof ) was released after 1973. Corgi marketed these sets later under the name 'corgi twin'.
A collector from Switzerland told me about this scale model. It is a 1:64 diecast Volvo 760 made in Warsaw ( Poland ) by a company called Carex. I remember myself having seen one a few years ago. But since there were no packaging and the fact that the rear doesn't look like a Volvo, I simply thought that it wasn't one. Slight mistake. This petroleum blue Volvo has a black interior and opening front side doors. The model with the black bottom-plate has also a tow bar. It comes packed in a blister on cardboard.
More infos about the brand Carex : This is certainly a rare find. This batch consists of 3 slightly different versions of the same livery. The batch ( 5 models in total ) is currently being offered for sale on the web. Volvo 245 Estate 'Tours de France - Officiels' & trailer with two race bikes :
Here is a short summary explaining the small differences between these models :
There are even 5 different versions if you take into account the way the colored bikes are placed on the trailers. Each set is however packed in the same type of blister. |
