NEW OLD MODELS FOUND |
The tag says it all. It's all about older models which I have discovered only recently. |
![]() I stumbled upon a Volvo PV544 by AHI who has a color which I've never seen before. It is painted red. This model exists also in black, white and brown. These 1:87 scale models where made in Japan. They consist of a diecast body, a tinplate bottom-plate and real rubber tires.

I recently saw in an auction a 5-car set by Matchbox featuring a Volvo C30. This set was released back in 2008 under the name 'Modern Rides'. This blue painted 3'' Volvo C30 model can be found with 8 or 10 Spoke wheels. It is made in Thailand. Source & copyright : matchbox.wikia.com/wiki/Volvo_C30
A fellow Volvo fan and collector made me recently aware of this Volvo 760 GLE scale model. The 3'' model was made for the British label TC Toys by Majorette. The Volvo 760 is Majorette's standard model which consists of a diecast body and a plastic bottom-plate. The model is made in France. TC Toys has printed their own product number on the left bottom corner of the cardboard. The item number is 34 06279. TC Toys stands for Thomas Cork SM Ltd. It seems that the company started doing business back in 1984. It had his headquarter in Nottingham, Great Britain. The company had been dissolved in November 1995.
I've just found another Volvo 760 model by Viking Toys. This one is a promotional model decorated with two decals for Bamse and Clock. Bamse is a cartoon and Clock was a fast-food restaurant. This small yellow scale model with the red tires is based on Viking Toys product number 4293. The model is made of plastic and it is 7.2 cm long. It was made in Sweden. A Dutch Volvo fan just found out that Motorart has produced the Volvo S80L at least in two different colors back in 2011. There has not only been a black model ( see here ) but also a second version painted oyster gray. Both versions are 1:18 scale models made of diecast. Both models reproduce Volvo's top of the line model S80L which is fitted in China with the T6 engine and all wheel drive. Motorart had revealed to a Dutch customer that the black one was sold out and that they do not plan to produce another run. But they never told that person that they produced the Volvo S80L in a second color. It is pretty hard to find any details or a copy of this scale model on the internet. I'm sorry but I can't help you to provide you with a model. I have no clue were you could get one. Source & copyright : kchen42.blog.sohu.com
This is another big set offered by Matchbox and including a Volvo 760. This one has been offered under the name 'Super Value Pack'. It contains a total of 20 different models. The Volvo 760 is red and features a black interior. This 20-car 'Super Value Set' was offered by Matchbox back in 1989. The box measures 15" x 15" ( 38x38cm ). See also here for other 'Super Value Sets'.
Motorart has produced the Volvo S80L as a 1:18 scale diecast model. This S80L was just offered in China. Motorart has revealed that it is sold out and that they do not plan to produce another run. Motorart showed that scale model for several years at the Toy Fair in Nürnberg (D). It is pretty strange that we hear only now about this Volvo scale model. It is even more strange that it is very very difficult to find a copy on the internet. I'm sorry but I can't help you to provide you with a model. I have no clue were you could get one.
![]() I found last year this 3-car set on the website www.svet-aut.cz. The storekeeper has never replied to my questions. I can't tell you therefore much about this set containing three 1:72 scale diecast models. The window-box is labelled Junior Driver which means that the models have been made by Hongwell / Cararama. The set consist of :
Don't hesitate to contact me if you know anything about his 3-car set. I was able to buy last month two Volvo 760 scale models from a company called Summer. Both 3'' models are mint but don't have any longer their original box/blister. I knew for many years that Summer did the Volvo 164 and the Volvo 760 in various different liveries. But this was my first opportunity to buy mint models for a fair price. They are far away from being exact to scale replicas but they were missing in my small collection of 3'' Volvo 760 scale models. And these two models were also two versions I had never seen before. Both models are with the exception of the paint perfectly identical : the bodies consist of diecast and the bottom-plate is a chromed and shiny piece of plastic. The front seats are part of the bottom-plate. There are no rear seats. The glazing covers just the windshield and the rear window. These Volvo's have no opening parts. The only working parts are the plastic wheels fixed on a piece of steel wire. Both models have wheels with four dots. Another usual wheel type had five dots. But a few other variations seem to exist too. Made in China is written on the bottom-plates. The silver-gray colored model has the number 8 stamped in the interior on the bottom-plate. The blue one has the number 6 stamped in the interior on the bottom-plate. Both models have a pretty clean and proper paint. Both cars feature a geometric design on their hoods. The number 1 is always written in light blue on the top of the hood and you will find beneath four adjacent circles. I had already listed four other versions in my database. But I was able to find a couple more versions. These are :
Just let me know if you have eventually other versions in your collection. |
