Norev will produce the Volvo Concept XC Coupé also as diecast version. This will be the second diecast model of Volvo’s new concept cars which Norev will offer in 2014. A precise release date has not yet been revealed. This new 1:43 scale model will be available in retail stores around the world. They will probably be available between 35 and 39 € whereas the resin ones do cost 127 € a piece. The first Volvo concept car made out of diecast has been announced last year by Norev. It was the Volvo Concept Coupé. See here. Nota : The following photos do show the real concept car as revealed earlier this year during the Detroit Motor Show. Norev has published in their latest newsletters their new 1:43 scale models representing Volvo's face-lifted model range for the model-year 2014. Norev offers now new colors for six different car types. The colors differ from the ones Norev delivered last year exclusively to Volvo's merchandise department. One of the good news is that the retail price is way below the one Volvo is asking in their web-shop. The now available diecast models can be found at prices well below those asked by Volvo for their exclusive paint schemes. Most retailers offer the models for ± 30 € whereas those sold in Volvo's web-shop cost 39.70 €.

The Volvo P1900 is one of the few Volvo models not known by the grand public. It was however a very lovely design and it is a shame that production ceased after only 68 built cars. P1900 had, as did the Corvettes, a body made out of polyester. The body was reinforced with fiberglass and was mounted on a tubular-steel chassis. ![]() A friendly Volvo fan from Poland told me that DeAgostini will release a Volvo scale model in a partwork collection called 'Kultowe Auta PRL'. The name of the collection means 'cult cars of PRL' during the socialist years in Poland. This 1:43 scale diecast model is made by Ixo in China. The blue Volvo 343 will be model number 149 in that collection. It is announced to be available starting from the fourteenth of May, 2014. Slight delays are a common issue with all these partwork series. You will be able to get this model for 21.90 PLN ( ~5.50 € ) in news-stand and other shops offering magazines and newspapers in Poland. Source & copyright : kultoweauta.pl
The number thirty-six in the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas is a Volvo 960 GLE. This 1:43 scale model reproduces a face-lifted model as it was introduced by Volvo in 1994 for the 1995 model year. The light taupe/beige/gold metallic ( code #411 ) painted car in combination with the cream leather interior created an elegant as well as discreet vehicle. The 960 was Volvo's most luxurious car in the 1990's. This diecast model features a closed glass sunroof and it is equipped with the standard 16'' Mercurius alloy rim. ![]() Volvo has announced a 1:43 scale model of their newest concept car - the Volvo Concept XC Coupe. This happens just two days after the presentation of the real concept car. You can read here how Volvo is promoting their scale model : Be one of the first to own a model of our 2014 concept car, the Volvo Concept XC Coupe. This 1:43 scale resin model is limited edition and comes in a VIP presentation box. This new Volvo model can only be purchased at Volvo's official merchandising web-shop. This resin made model will be available for 130.80 € under item number 2300379-000-000. The first models should arrive February the Seventh, 2014. Source & copyright : collection.volvocars.com The Dutch retailer The Diecast CompanY has announced a batch of Volvo models by IXO in new and exclusive colors. Each 1:43 scale model will be offered as a limited edition. Every model will be packed in a special gray/black Triple 9 window box. I resume in the following table the so far announced models because some infos have changed since I first wrote about these models.
The models who have already been announced were then limited to 504 units. The Diecast CompanY writes now that each run will consist of 600 pieces. I guess it might change one more time.
The first release dates have not been respected. All the models are now announced to become available in the second quarter of 2014. This is however without any guarantee. More infos will follow as soon as they come available. Source : diecastcompany.nl Premium-X has announced several new 1:43 scale diecast models. This is in fact a logical consequence since Ixo / Premium-X is allowed to offer the models which they are producing for Editions Atlas' Volvo Collection. Ixo has to respect however two restrictions : they have to wait at least six months after a model has appeared for the first time in the Volvo Collection and they must offer the model in a different color.
Here are a few of the upcoming Premium-X models : 1966 Volvo Amazon break light green item # PRD373 1988 Volvo 780 Bertone dark blue item # PRD371 The retail price for these models is 30.99 €. These two models will also be manufactured in a limited edition for the Dutch shop The Diecast CompanY 1966 Volvo Amazon break cream with brown/beige interior limited to 1008 pieces item # T9-43041 1988 Volvo 780 Bertone silver metallic with black interior limited to 1008 pieces item # T9-43040 These models will be offered in a special decorated box under the label Triple-9 Collection. The retail price remains the same. This store has already announced last summer some limited edition Premium-X models who were planned to be released September and October 2013. None of them have yet been delivered. The number thirty-five in the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas is the Volvo 244 DL 'Blue Star'. First hour subscribers should receive this model this month. This is a newly tooled model of this classic Volvo model. The 240 in 1:43 scale had in the past surprisingly very often been neglected by model car manufacturers. Editions Atlas choose to produce this rather unknown version of the Volvo 244. Here is a small description of the Volvo GL 'Blue Star' model : The Volvo 244 DL 'Blue Star' was based on the standard 'DL' model. This special edition received however a few options from the 'GL' trim line : seats, steering wheel, rims, ....
The 244 DL 'Blue Star' was powered by the B21A engine who developed 74 kW @ 5250 rpm. It was available with a manual gearbox with overdrive or with a 3-speed automatic transmission. The 244 DL 'Blue Star' had been released in 1978 just before the new restyled model ( rectangular front lights, larger rear lights ) was launched September 1978. Around 100 units had been delivered to the Benelux countries ( Netherlands, Belgium & Luxembourg ). You could say that they sold the older model in an elegant way. This has become a truly normal thing these days for mostly any car brand.
