The label WhiteBox has released several weeks ago a Volvo 164 as well as a Volvo P1800ES. Both scale models come in typical colors from their era - the late 1960's and early 1970's. Those models are identical to the models which most of you will know from the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas. The main difference are the different colors. Each model is packed in black and white window cardboard box hence the name under which these models are being sold. Both Volvo's are 1:43 scale models made of diecast and featuring some plastic parts. They are manufactured by Ixo in China. You can buy either one for 21.95 €. 1968 Volvo 164

The French company Norev who has already supplied two 1:43 scale models of the all-new XC90 for Volvo's official merchandising program will release an all-new XC90 (2015) in white in their regular model line-up. The new paint is officially called 'crystal white metallic'. It is anticipated that the model will be ready later this year. It will be offered under item number 870050. The official retail price for this diecast model is very likely 32.95 €. I will publish further info's as soon as they will become available. Here are photos of the so far released colors for Volvo's official merchandising department: The British manufacturer The Essence Of The Car has released today his third Volvo model. The first has been the no longer existing Volvo Venus Bilo (see here & here). The second model was the Volvo V70 pickup (see here) offered by the Swedish car manufacturer Dalbo Fordonsteknik. The third release is a replica of the Volvo V70. This 1:43 scale miniature is available under the category "Utility Cars". The model is available for £65.00 under item reference 'Volvo V70 Wagon'. Each Volvo V70 by The Essence Of The Car is numbered and comes painted in a dark gold metallic. Source: theessenceofthecar.co.uk
The number fifty-five in the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas is the Volvo PV654 from 1933. The PV654 was Volvo's first 'luxury' car. It was in fact an upgraded PV653. The PV654 was fitted with an uprated interior, twin fender mounted spare tires, twin chrome plated horns and twin rear lights. Volvo built a modest batch of 361 units between 1933-34 of this car. But this was surprisingly better compared to the base model PV653 which attracted just 230 buyers. You can see several photos of Volvo PV654 cars on the website swedishbrasscar.com. One photo shows you a PV654 which is fitted with the same paint scheme as proposed on this scale model by Editions Atlas. You may notice on that photo that the mentioned car wears a pretty faded paint.
The Dutch company A2Models has added a third Volvo model to their product range. A2Models has started back in 2011 producing car replicas in various scales via 3D Printing. The third Volvo model is the Volvo Amazon 4-door from model-year 1965. This model is available in six different scales: 1:76, 1:87, 1:100, 1:120, 1:160 and 1:200. The first two Volvo models offered by A2 Models were the Volvo PV544 and P1800. The prices for a model vary between 5.95 € and 17.95 € depending on the scale.

The German company Brekina celebrates this years its 35th anniversary. They have announced in their just published newsletter for Mai that they will offer therefore 35 special sets. Each set features several already known models. These sets will be available during a limited time and each set will cost 35 € which seems to be quite a saving. You will be able to save from 20% up to 45%. Two sets will be interesting for the Volvo fans. They are:
Each of the models available will be in the model line TD. TD stands for "Top Decoration" and means that each model labeled as such does have white wall tires, chromed window frames, two-tone paint, or various other more detailed parts and/or decorations.

A model of the actual Volvo V60 is available as scale model in Japan. This model is an official merchandise product from Volvo. The small scale model is made of plastic and measures 60.1 mm long, 23.7 mm width and 17.7 mm high. This means that the model is slightly larger than a H0 ( 1:87 ) model. The model comes packed in a small white window box. The scale model features also pull back action.
I was pretty luck to get an example via an avid Dutch Volvo collector. A model of the Volvo V40 is also available (click here). I just have no clue why Volvo isn't offering any of these models in the rest of the world. Please let us know if you have any further info's regarding this new scale model. Link: volvocars.com/jp
