The German wholesaler and importer Modelcarworld has released at the end of last year another 1:18 scale Volvo model under their own label BoS-Models. BoS stands for Best of Show. The latetst release is a second run of the already known Volvo PV445 Duett. A first run had been released back in 2015. The new release features a nice red over white over red paint scheme. The interior is all black. The first run was offered in the nicer two-tone interior version. This resin model doesn't feature any opening and/or moving parts with the exception of the wheels. It was common knowledge among good informed Volvo collectors that BoS-Models has been working on an 1:18 scale version for a Volvo Amazon Estate model. The just released miniature is representing the Amazon Estate from model-year 1965. The rtr model is painted cream and features a red interior which results in a nice color combo which suits this replica quite well. This model is made out of resin and does not feature any opening parts. This is the first model offered by BoS-Models which does not come with a German license plate. You can buy a copy of this limited scale model for 119.95 € under item number BOS176 (Nr. 200850). This is a price increase of 20 € or 20% compared to the previous three Volvo models produced for and offered by BoS-Models. BoS stands for "Best of Show". Volvo offers five different trim levels for their XC90: Kinetic, Momentum, R-Design, Inscription and Excellence. GTA (Welly) will release an 1:18 scale model featuring the automaker’s sporty R-Design pack. Volvo’s R-Design packs don't include any improved engine performance but they do add a sporty presence for the vehicles—both inside and out. Typical enhancements include aero mods, stiffened suspension, uprated wheels and tires, sports seats and perforated leather trim. Other features are among others enlarged intakes up front, new side sills, silver side mirror caps and enlarged wheels (20" or 22"). The upcoming diecast model will be available in two different colors: crystal white pearl metallic (707) and bursting blue metallic (720). The latter is an exclusive paint only available with the R-Design option. The 1:18 model features four opening doors as well as working hood and tailgate. GTA will distribute their model under item number 11009. I don't have any info's about an official retail price. My guess is it will be somewhere between 130 and 150 €. Minichamps has released the third run of their 1:18 scale version of the Volvo 244 GL from model-year 1986. The third production batch is painted white and features once again black leather seats. This mode has no opening parts (doors, trunk, hood). The first two batches sold out quite fast so this is another opportunity to add the first 1:18 scale model of Volvo's iconic brick - the Volvo 244 - to your personal collection. You can buy this 1:18 model under item 155171402 at your local store. This model is offered for ± 75-80 € . This white painted model has been produced in a limited run of 504 units. Model overview:
I ran this week into a reseller called carloverdiecast who is not only offering most 1:18 Volvo dealer editions but also lighted scale models which they modify on request. The price of this transformation might hardly fit into your annual scale model budget. The regular price is $641.00 USD (± 574) but even the actual sale price of $455.00 USD (± €408) ain't a bargain. And you will need to add on top of this the price for the actual scale model as well as for the shipping fees. Carloverdiecast undertakes only transformations on models who are bought directly from them. This is a security measure to avoid any arguments concerning the quality of the actual model they start from to do the light-tuning.
Carloverdiecast shows a couple photos of a transformed 1:18 scale model of the recent Volvo S6oL Dealer Edition. The lights are all LED and carloverdiecast offers you also the possibility to turn on or switch off all the lights of the car via an app (Android only). The lights are powered by a battery. The Australian company Apex Replicars has recently announced four Volvo S60 race-car models from this years Australian V8 Supercars championship. The four models consist of two different cars with their individual liveries reproduced each in 1:43 as well as 1:18 scale. The 1:43 scale models will be available for 88.00 AUD tax incl. (± 60 € / ± 66 $) and the 1:18 versions for 165.00 AUD tax incl. (± 112 € / ± 123.6 $). Since Apex Replicars still got to produce models for some of the others V8 Supercars teams they presume that the Volvo S60 models form this season won't be able until next year. They also estimate that the long announced 2015 Volvo's will be available around October of this year. The following photos depict the first samples which just arrived from the production site in China. Source:

Minichamps has released the second livery of the new 1:18 scale version of the Volvo 244 GL just weeks after the first release. The second model comes with a red paint scheme. The interior reflects once again black leather seats. This second batch is already sold out at Minichamps. But you should be able to find a copy at re-sellers and stores. This model is offered for ± 75-80 € under item 155171401. This red model is offered in a limited edition of 804 units. Source: minichamps.de Short reminder: The rather low price for this 1:18 scale model by Minichamps is only possible since they have started to produce several of their models in a more affordable price range. This is largely being made possible since these models do not feature any opening parts. So you won't be able to play with your model and you won't be able to open a hood, trunk or even one of the four doors. Model overview:
Minichamps is the first company who is offering a 1:18 scale model of the famous Volvo 244. The first livery has officially been released this weekend. The first version is painted in an attractive green metallic. The interior is all black and it seems to me that Minichamps tried to reproduce the seats finished in leather. Minichamps has chosen to reproduce the GL version from 1986. This is an obvious choice since they already did the same model in 1:43. Minichamps new 1:18 version has been produced in a limited edition of only 702 units and it is already sold out. But you should be able to find a copy at good model stores or re-sellers in your area. And if not you can wait for the second release which will feature a red paint scheme. You can buy this model for as low as 75-80 €. This is only possible since Minichamps has started to produce several of their models in a more affordable price range. This is largely being made possible since these models do not feature any opening parts. So you won't be able to play with your model and you won't be able to open a hood, trunk or even one of the four doors. I will try to write a more detailed review as soon as I have been able to inspect one of these models more closely.
