Matchbox will release later this year a 3" model of the actual Volvo V60 (modeller 2015). A first prototype had been revealed last year at a Matchbox gathering. An unpainted prototype of this upcoming Volvo V60 has been offered last month by an Malaysian seller on eBay. That prototype was finally sold for 257 dollar on March 13, 2016.
Matchbox published earlier this year on their Instagram account a painted pre-production version of the Volvo V60. Seems that the first run will be painted red. More colour schemes will follow without a doubt. Matchbox will offer the V60 under the item number DJV37 for a couple €/$ in their Basic Line for 2016. Please stay tuned for further info's on this unexpected 3" model.

I am pleased to bring you some updates regarding the Volvo XC90 'Patrouille TCS' ( Touring Club Swiss ). I have presented it for the first time this summer. This model is not only available as a single miniature. It can also be purchased as a 3-car set together with a Porsche 911 'Polizei' ( police ) and a Ford Econoline van 'Feuerwehr' ( fire fighters ). The single model is packed in a blister on cardboard and the 3-car set comes in a cardboard window box. They are marketed in the Maorette S.O.S. range. The 3'' diecast models are all made in Thailand. The single model is available under item number 21 205 7180 034 and the 3-car set wears item number 21 205 7260 034. Majorette has released this Volvo XC90 model in the colors of the Swiss TCS ( Touring Club Swiss ). The 3'' scale model represents a TCS service car and is labeled 'patrouille tcs' on the side doors together with the TCS phone number 140. Three Volvo P1800 scale cars by Matchbox have been released as Model of the month in the States. These 3'' special limited edition models have been printed by Color Comp for Matchbox. The cars are available in three different colors with always the same design representing a rally/race car.

What NL means : The 'NL' base-plate is named as such because since a short period Mattel puts on the base-plate of Matchbox and Hotwheels models the zip code of the (legal) European head office which is located in 1186 MJ, 1, NL. According to European legislation manufacturers are obliged to put an address on the packaging in Europe. In the case of a complaint the customer has an address where he can send his comments. Why Mattel did it on the base-plate and not on the packaging remains a mystery. In any case all models produced after January 1, 2012 have that zip code on the base-plate. And because it’s a Dutch address it’s called the Dutch base-plate. The Matchbox Northwest Collector's Club has issued a club car for 2012. They choose the Volvo P1800 as base for their code 3 model. The Volvo P1800 is available in four different colours and all feature the logo of the Matchbox Northwest club on the roof, the Saint logo on the hood and Matchbox Northwest is written on the side doors with the exception of the yellow racer model. The logos have all been printed by the US company Color Comp. A total of only 30 models have been produced : 10 in white, 8 in red, 8 in blue and 4 yellow ones. The first picture shows the layout preview. It seems that the black car was not approved and hasn't been produced.    
The Matchbox Northwest Collector's Club is based in Seattle, Washington ( USA ). Their contact person is Tom Larson. Matchbox is offering in the States a new livery of the Volvo P1800. This release reflects the 'The Saint' version. The scale model is plain white and has 'The Saint' printed as an abstract logo on the hood. The scale model comes in a special decorated cardboard box. Only 50 models have been made by Color Comp for Matchbox USA as a special limited promotion for the 1960's TV show "The Saint".  Five new special decorated and limited Matchbox models of the Volvo P1800 are available from the German Matchbox dealer Moyshop. These models have been issued for the 2012 Matchbox European Gathering of Matchbox collectors held this Mai in Dusseldorf, Germany. The various Volvo P1800S models are :
 
   Matchbox has once more released a new livery of the Volvo P1800. this time they choose to do a Rally version which has black rims and a large black number 27 in a white circle on the side doors. The model features also a large black stripe on both sides with numerous small markings. The model is available in the smaller square and in the rectangular blister.  Photo used with permission
