NEW RELEASES |
You will be able to find here news about the latest Volvo scale models which have been announced or just been released. |
Four years ago Matrix Scale Models announced the first r-t-r model of a Volvo 245 Transfer as a scale model. The first run was a blue painted version of Volvo's extended 245 estate. It took Matrix Scale Models quite some time to release a second livery of this rather unusual car. The second production run will reflect Volvo's stretched estate in the livery of a Taxi. The 1:43 scale model made out of resin will be finished in white and will feature a pretty exact copy of a Taxi sign on the roof. Well yes the Taxi sign looks a little oversized on the first photos of this new replica. The scale model features round headlamps. You will probably notice that the two pics in this post are showing the version with the small rectangular headlamps. Please have a look at the scanned catalog and you will see the version with the older round headlamps. Matrix Scale Models will offer their replica as 1:43 resin model. You can order your copy under item # MX12106-052. This will be a rather small and limited production batch so hurry if you wanna be sure to have at least one of these in your collection.

The director of Matrix Scale Models revealed me yesterday evening a scoop. They will release the Volvo 264 which the Swedish coach-builder Nillson (Yngve Nilsson Karosseri) built as a Landaulette for the former DDR-Deutsche Demokratische Republik (German) or German Democratic Republic (English). He was very kind and had three photos attached to his email. This very rare car has never been done before as a scale model. This 1:43 scale model will be made of resin. It is painted black and features a beige interior. You can already pre-order it at your local dealer under item number MX42106-011. The retail price will be around 80 €. Only 408 units will be made of this really rare Volvo. It will be available next September. Source & copyright : matrixscalemodels.com

I received today the first photos of the all new Volvo 264 TE model which Matrix Scale Models is expecting to release mid August. This model will be offered in dark blue with a gray interior instead of a black one as I announced it earlier this year (see here). But I still regret that Matrix Scale Models hasn't chosen to reproduce their 1:43 scale model with either a light gray or blue interior. Those two upholstery colors were by far the most common tints. This will be nevertheless a great reproduction of this rather rare Volvo model of the late Seventies. The 1:43 scale model will be made of resin. The item number is MX12106-021. You can already pre-order this limited edition scale model at your dealer. Source & copyright : matrixscalemodels.com
Here are a few photos of a 1:1 Volvo 264 TE from 1976 which I was recently able to photograph in the Netherlands. The car is painted blue and has the light gray interior. Matrix Scale Models has just announced that they will offer the Volvo 264 TE now also in the very common colour dark blue. This new release will only be available in the second half of 2014. The 1:43 scale model will be made of resin. The item number is MX12106-021. You can already pre-order this limited edition scale model. Source & copyright : matrixscalemodels.com Personal note : Matrix Scale Model has revealed me that they intend to offer this release with a black interior. The Volvo 264 TE was however very rarely delivered with a black interior. Blue and light gray interiors were the most common. I have already told this to the guys from Matrix Scale Models. I'm convinced that it might help if they get more emails from customers telling them those facts. Why you should help ? Two reasons : you will have a more precise scale model in your showcase and you will see way better the details of a blue or light gray interior. It's up to you now. I have announced yesterday that Matrix Scale Models will release the Volvo 264 TE in black in around four weeks. But another new Volvo model will be available a little earlier. Matrix Scale Models has announced yesterday that their newly tooled Volvo 245 Transfer will be released just ahead of the 264 TE. This is first time that a correct model of this stretched break will be offered as scale model. The 1:43 model will be made of resin. It can be ordered under item # MX12106-051. The following three photos are showing a pre-production model. The final version should look even better. Source & copyright : matrixscalemodels.com
Matrix Scale Models will release next month the third version of their Volvo 264 TE model. The model should be available at the end of October. This 1:43 scale model will be available in black. It will be available for 76-80 € under item # MX12106-022. Source & copyright : matrixscalemodels.com
The Volvo 264 TE DDR limousine from 1978 by Matrix Scale Models has been delivered this week. The regular release is limited to 408 models and available for 76 - 80 €. Matrix Scale Model has however also produced a special release for the German model store Budig from Berlin. This version consists of the Volvo 264 TE with the figurines of Erich Honecker and his wife Margot. This limited edition of only 100 units is exclusively available at www.modellautos-budig.de for 98 € under item # MX12106-024. This 1:43 scale model is made of resin and features many photo-etched parts. The car as well as the Honecker couple are fixed on a plastic base. The set is protected by a perspex show box. This set has been released two days ago. Those of you with hawk eyes have certainly noticed that Matrix Scale Models has improved some details and the overall finish of this scale model. It is positive to see that some producers are listening to their customers and take into account their remarks.
Matrix Scale Models has just published the first pictures of the upcoming Volvo 264 TE 'DDR' stretched limousine. The shortcut TE stands for Top Executive. It was initially scheduled to be released in the third quarter but it seems that it will now be available in the second quarter of 2013. The model will be available under item # MX12106-023 for around 80 €. It seems that it will be a limited edition of only 312 units. The proportions of the cars looks really good and the model represents well the limousine from the first batch. I do ignore if the model on the photos below will be released as such or if it is still a pre-production model. I have however discovered several tiny errors : - the dark blue painted cars had a dark blue upholstery and never a black one - the chrome around the side windows seems less shiny than the rest of the chromed trim - the chrome of the door handles seems less shiny than the rest of the chromed trim - the flags are a little bit to high ( the pole is too long ) - the flags are not located on the correct place : they were situated more on the outer side of the headlights - the model features optional front fog lamps under the front bumper ( I do ignore if many featured this option ) Source & copyright : matrixscalemodels.com
