Volvo S90 by Editions Atlas

The number sixty-seven in the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas is the Volvo S90. Volvo offered the S90 from 1997 to 1998. This 1:43 diecast model reflects Volvo's high-end model of the last century. The Volvo S90 was a replacement for Volvo's 960 sedan. There are only minor differences between both models. The S90 was available with a couple new features as well as new exterior and interior colors. The S90 was Volvo's last rear-drive model and it is seen therefore by many as the last real Volvo.

Editions Atlas has chosen to offer the S90 in a nice green paint and with a tan leather interior.

Hi Michelle,
A nice model, this S90 but in my view not so different from the earlier 960. I'd rather have chosen for the 460 or the coach version of the 340/360. This would really add something to the collection. I hope the developpers read this comment too.. ;-) Thanks again and greetings! Sybrand

Hej Sybrand,

The choice of the offered models is always a very personal one. Are there more interesting Volvo models? For sure. But as written and commented in previous posts, Editions Atlas tries to find a good mix between new engineered models and siblings of already existing ones.

The so far offered 'doubles' have allowed the Volvo Collection to grow from the initial 30 programmed cars to now a future total of 75 models.

I do know that the manager in charge of this collection at Editions Atlas is a car fan and he would prefer as well to offer only newly molded Volvo models. But he has to find the right mix of models and actual costs.

Could they have done other models? Yes. But don't forget that Editions Atlas has even asked us - Volvo fan's - which models we would like to see. And many new models have been engineered which have never been offered before. Are they all perfect? No. Some errors have emerged.

Minichamps, Matrix, Neo, ... have produced Volvo models with errors as well. And some have been really bad. And they are all more expensive.

It's always a mess for us fans and collectors if we see a model with errors. But we have never had such a big choice of so many different models like we do now.

It is in our nature of always wanting more and better.

Hi! I'm totally with you about the car, I have the 960 and I can't find any difference between them more than the wheels and color... It's bad really bad :( It's like the 145 USA-edition not much difference there too..

If they must do a car from the 90-series they can do the V90 ...... If it's beacuse of the lack of money they can do a version of a car that we can se the difference of with the real details. We do pay a rather big price on the cars so we can have something to say about it too.

But it's maybe only my opinion ?

If Editions Atlas is reading our comments, I want renew my wish: Please, make models about Volvo Philip and Volvo VESC. They are so rare and would be crown jewels of this collection.
