Volvo XC Coupe by Double Horse Toys

The Chinese toy manufacturer Double Horse Toys Industry Co. Ltd. (Donghu Industrial Park, Chenghai, Shantou, Guangdong, China) is offering a model of Volvo's XC Coupe Concept. This model is produced for the Chinese domestic market. The 1:32 scale Volvo XC Coupe is made out of diecast and is fitted with rubber tires. It is available in four different colors: white, light blue, yellow and red. Each model features opening side doors as well as an opening trunk and hood. And since it is a kids toy and not a collector item Double Horse Toys has added working lights and sound. This car model comes also with pull back function. It measures roughly 15cm long, 6cm width and 5cm high.
It is offered officially only in China. I do ignore if it will be offered anytime soon on the remaining countries. The prices I have found in China vary between 13.62 and 18.89 US $ for one model. There are also web-stores who offer a discounted set of all four colors for 45.93 US $ (11.48 / unit).

All the Info You Need!
Welcome to the Double Horse Toys information home page!  This is a no-nonsense information site in relation to the Double Horse manufactured range of remote control helicopters and cars.  Please feel free to contribute additions or corrections.

Background to the Double Horse Company and Brand
Double Horse Toys Industry Co Ltd (DH) is one of the worlds most well-known brands of "entry level" remote control toys.  The company is located in the Chenghai district of Shantou - Guangdong China, approximately 250km east north east of Shenzhen.
DH has had a great deal of experience manufacturing toy radio controlled helicopters and boats, and primarily focuses on the mass market toy end of the scale rather than enthusiast level products.  Whilst they used to also make planes, today they are full focused on helicopters and boats.
Q. Are Double Horse and Syma the same company?A. They used to be!  Prior to 2007 there was only Syma, owned by two owner brothers.  Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately for the market!) they didn't quite get along and one of the owners split off to form Double Horse.  Double Horse has become extremely well known at the entry level "toy" segment of RC helicopters, in much the same way that Syma is.
In terms of comparative popularity, Syma is more well known in regions such as the United States of America whereas Double Horse is slightly well known Oceana, Asia and parts of Europe.
Q. What are the flagship products of Double Horse?A. Double Horse is most well known for the 9053 remote control helicopter, first produced in 2010.  This helicopter became popular because of the combination of ease of use (a 3 channel model with gyro) and its size.  DH is also well know for a couple boats such as the 7007 and 7008.
Q. What is the best helicopter would you suggest for Double Horse?A. OK so the answer to this question is changing constantly.  But the truth is that the way that they design products, they are all easy to fly.  There are also many factors that contribute to deciding which are the "best", such as flight time and speed.  In 2011 the answer was simply, the 9053.  Today, the answer is that the 9118 is the best choice when you take several aspects into account.  Firstly, it is cheap and readily available - at this end of the market you're not going to have to shell our hundreds of dollars like you would on a Walkera or Trex branded chopper.  The 9118 is also 2.4GHz digital, 4 channel and single rotor.
4 Channel will give you heaps of additional enjoyment, slightly more complex with the side-banking movement, and a single rotor great looking design!
Q. What is the best boat you would suggest for Double Horse?A. The two most popular models are the 7007 and 7008.  Both are low cost, easy to use and provide single motor (7007) and twin motor (7008) options.

About Double Horse RC Toys – The Company, Range and Reviews

Posted on 1st November 2012 by Hobby Warehouse

Made in what is now known as China’s “toy town” district, Chenghai, Double Horse RC toys have a pretty good start in life. Developed from scratch by their team of in-house designers, they are produced under the regulations of the company’s award-winning quality control system before being exported across the world. Emerging from more than a decade of intensive modernization and investment, Double Horse Toys Industry Co. Ltd. produces hobby products for the mass market (i.e. your average Joe) and has claimed a large market share in remote control helicopters and boats for the beginner and casual user. Their motto doesn’t translate very well (something like “Quality Determines Existence, Creation Means Development”), but their technology certainly does: excellent wherever you use it.
Although they used to specialise in remote control flight (helicopters and planes) and to a lesser extent boats, their focus is now solely on helicopters and boats, their most successful products. There’s also a lot of choice within those categories, for example the degree of suitability for outdoor flight or the sensitivity of the controls, not to mention the levels of personalisation possible/necessary. This range of options makes Double Horse a great ‘gateway’ brand; start with a cheap, pre-assembled, easily operable, electric toy with a low number of control channels, and progress up through the skill levels as and when you want with a brand you’re already familiar with.
In terms of customisation, it’s also good to note that buyers often find making modifications to even an electric Double Horse RC toy relatively easy. For example, when altering a helicopter, many forums will tell you that securing a little bit of blue tack or modelling clay in a safe place (for example inside the nose) can help rebalance it for forward motion, and extending the aerial wire to the tail can increase signal range, among other tricks. So if you’ve already started and fancy tinkering a bit, you can hone your knowledge and create something personal without needing to purchase a nitro-powered toy.
Double Horse boast a number of particularly famous and effective products (each explained in detail on this site), and new models are regularly met with critical acclaim. The famous Volitation 9053 had a number of slightly modified production runs, resulting in V2 and 2 Speed variations, before its successor, the Volitation 9118 was finally released – a culmination of the development and feedback invested in the 9053. Their sheer size, as well as fly bar weights and ‘slow’ mode options, make these brilliantly stable for those still honing their skills. Some still have their complaints, but it is widely acknowledged that there have been few RC helicopters ever made that can rival this as a quality beginners/casual gateway product.
Moving up from the 3-channel and into more manoeuvrable helicopters, Double Horse also make 4-channel controllable helis (notably the 9116), fixed pitch single rotor jobs as opposed to the coaxial 9118 and models without the stabilising heavy-weighted fly-bar. A flying experience in which you, the owner, have more control, as provided by these more advanced Double Horse toys, is often considered more enjoyable and rewarding – so long as you can handle it!
Besides helicopters, there’s also the speedboat range to contend with. Although it’s still possible to get hold of discontinued Double Horse sail boats, it’s unclear why you’d want to when you can pick up one of these bad boys for under $100. Reaching speeds of up to 30kph with twin propeller power, they truly are class boats, giving boat-specialist rival Joysway a run for their money. Modifications are a little harder than with the helicopters, for example batteries must be exact size to as not to wear on the propeller shaft in some models, but are possible nonetheless, and mastering the craft is something to be proud of.
Of course, the degree of suitability for use in different locations varies; for helicopters, Double Horse produces at both ends of the spectrum, with some cheaper products that, while excellent indoors, will struggle with the lightest of breezes, right through to the bigger, tougher light wind varieties. So if you’re looking for a helicopter for regular outdoor use, make sure you check out how sturdy the one you’re buying is, the brand is no guarantee on this one! Same goes for the boats. Generally, the bigger they are, the rougher the water they can handle, as there isn’t often guidance on this in speedboat product descriptions. On balance, though, the quality of Double Horse products means that these factors affect them less than some other brands!
And just to think that all this might never have existed if the ‘Syma’ brothers had got along better! (Double Horse Toys Industry Co. Ltd. split from Syma as the result of a sibling spat, you know). Well, their loss was the rest of the world’s gain, so on balance, I don’t think anyone’s too sorry about it.
