Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas

Editions Atlas has released in November 2011 a collection featuring 1:43 Volvo scale models.
The collection first started in the following Nordic countries : Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway.

The first model is sold for 39 SEK in Sweden, 3.90 € in Finland, 35 DKK in Denmark and 39 NOK in Norway.

Included with the first model are :

the car mounted on a base
a booklet
a DVD
a poster
a rack for presenting the models

Editions Atlas has just revealed that the Volvo Collection lineup will end at a total of 90 models.

Editions Atlas has just revealed that another five models will be added to the Volvo Collection lineup. This means that the collection will be extended to a total of at least 80 models. There is even an possibility for another five or ten more Volvo scale models.

Editions Atlas surprised the customers of the Volvo Collection by offering them a special poster for the 90th anniversary of Volvo. The poster shows ninety different Volvo cars. It is free.

Mr Atlas has created and launched a poll on Facebook. He is asking which color you wanna see for the scale model of the Volvo 940 Turbo 4-door sedan. This upcoming Volvo model will be release number 74 in the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas.

Editions Atlas has allowed us this afternoon a sneak a peek at probable future releases in their Volvo Collection. The photo was popped up in the Volvo model car group on FB after the Volvo P1800 'Jensen' has been presented on minivolvo.

Editions Atlas has released this morning in the Volvo model car group on FB another 3d sketch of one of the upcoming models in their Volvo Collection. Their choice fell on the first generation of the Volvo P1800 which had been manufactured by Jensen Motors in Great Britain for Volvo.

Editions Atlas has released on FB in the Volvo model car group a 3d pic of one of the upcoming models in their Volvo Collection. Their choice fell on the rare and much sought after Volvo Amazon Coune convertible. This 122S will be offered in white and will feature a black interior. The very first Amazon convertible which Jacques Coune introduced at the Autosalon in Brussels (B) in January 1963 was finished in that color combo.

Editions Atlas has released a photo showing two of the upcoming models which they will offer in the Volvo Collection. Editions Atlas choose to add a model of the Volvo 244GTX and the Volvo PV51 Cabriolet to the Volvo Collection. The photos do show prototypes of both models which are not yet ready and which will be improved before the final production run will be launched.

Editions Atlas has just revealed that another five models will be added to the Volvo Collection lineup. There is even an option for ten more Volvo's. This means that the collection could be extended to a total of 75 scale models.

Editions Atlas has just published that they will implement a small price increase for every ongoing collection starting from this week. This concerns of course also the Volvo Collection. Editions Atlas gives the following reasons:

the prices per model stayed unchanged over the last decade but the fees have gone up steadily
a strong revaluation of the US-dollar against the Euro: all the products made in China are paid in US-dollars
the fees for transport and more specifically those for shipping parcels in Europe have largely increased this year
the salary costs in China as well as the prices for raw materials have increased over the last years between 10 and 20% each year
the fact that Editions Atlas has its headquarter in Switzerland does not help in terms of exchange rates: the Swiss franc is no longer coupled to the Euro

Each of their clients will receive a letter explaining the price increases. Editions Atlas will charge each customer an extra 2 to 3€ per model.

Editions Atlas indicates that this price increase doesn't fully cover the actual higher manufacturing costs. Editions Atlas has therefore made other efforts to cut their costs: logistics, accounting and a couple other services ave been centralized. This has resulted in a sharp drop of employees. Editions Atlas hopes to have taken the right decisions and being able to start with a smaller but healthier constellation.

All these changes may explain some of the logistic problems many customers may have experienced over the last couple months. Editions Atlas has outsourced their customer service which has certainly not helped customers who were wondering where their models are stuck.

Also wondering which upcoming models will be available from the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas? I'm pretty sure that you are. The manager who is responsible for the Volvo Collection has recently revealed some photos as well as a few hints of what will await you in 2015.

52: Volvo C70 convertible
53: 66 Sedan
54: 264 TE Landaulet
55: inter-war model
56: really interesting and never seen in this scale emergency model
57: one of the first Volvo sedan
58: more modern but still classic estate
59: beloved and asked off road of the fifties
60: a prototype, never seen as model and unfortunately disappeared (destroyed) in reality, the big surprise for the last model of this collection (for now), a real highlight to thanks all the customers

Editions Atlas has officially released the Volvo Collection in Switzerland. It is so far only available with folders written in German. The Volvo Collection with French written folders will be launched in a couple of days. You can subscribe to the collection on the website editionsatlas.ch. Editions Atlas has started to offer the Volvo Collection for the first time on their French website editionsatlas.fr. The good news is that the French Volvo fans can use this early bird offer and they will not miss the official start this Summer when they should be on holiday.

Editions Atlas has released the Volvo Collection as a test in France. A million flyer's will be available in the advertising folders distributed by the French based company La Redoute. The test of this 1:43 scale model collection will start with a white Volvo P1800. It will be available for only 4.99 € ( model + S&H ). The collection will continue with the Volvo Amazon 4-door in white over red as release N°2 and with a black Volvo PV444 as N°3 if the test will be successful.

The release of the Volvo Collection in Germany is planned for this September. The collection will be continued if the first models will be successful. It is also very probable that the collection will be available in other German-speaking countries.

And the Volvo Collection is once again available on the Dutch website after having been unavailable for nearly a month.

Editions Atlas has revealed that they will launch the Volvo Collection also in Germany at the end of this year. Under discussion are also a few other European countries. Editions Atlas is still investigating if those will be promising markets.

The Volvo Collection is no longer available on the Dutch website from Editions Atlas. But it is still available in the remaining countries : Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark and Belgium.

Ben, the webmaster from the Dutch website volvo-forum.nl received the information by the Editions Atlas headquarter in Switzerland that the Volvo Collection will be extended from 30 to 45 models.
The collection seems to be a success. The series includes currently 24 models. So you can expect a few more surprises in the coming months.

The first model has been delivered in Belgium and the Netherlands. It is the black Volvo PV444 which has also been the first release in all the other countries.

As I wrote earlier this week the Volvo Collection has appeared on the Belgium website from Editions Atlas but the page did not work back then.
Since yesterday the website is also available and working properly. Unfortunately the collection still can't be ordered on the French spoken website. What a shame.

Editions Atlas has just announced the release of the collection in the Netherlands and Belgium. The Belgian website is presenting the collection but the menu is not yet working. The collection is not available on the French spoken website in Belgium.

Editions Atlas seems to be preparing the release of the Volvo Collection in the Netherlands and in Belgium for this spring. The order form will be made available in various TV guides.

Here you can find the list with the so far available models. The list reflects the official release order as given and intended by Editions Atlas. This list depicts the official release order if you have started from the very beginning in one of the Scandinavian countries (SE, NO, FI, DK).

There are however a few exceptions to this order. A few cases are known where people receive a different model the same day in one country.
