HELP WANTED |
This chapter is about weird models where I have not yet been able to find any kind of precise info's and where I do need your help! |
This light blue pedal car has been photographed at a swap meet in Chabanais (16), France in 2010. It is not certain that it is really a Volvo PV544. Any help is warmly welcome. But there has been a new input today. The Volvo Museum Göteborg has published two black and white photos on their FB account. They have asked their followers the following: We found these two pictures in our Historical Archive - does anybody know where they come from? Source: FB page of Volvo Museum Göteborg As you will notice both set of photos show slightly different versions of a Volvo PV544 pedal car. Do you have any info's regarding these models?

I was also able to find in the States a model of this Volvo ÖV4.
I can give you a few updates since I was able to measure and inspect the model, First of all the scale is more likely 1:76 than 1:87 ( H0 ). I was not able to find the exact dimensions of the real car. I just found the length of the wheelbase. And compared with the model car, the scale is very close to 1:76. The model is made of three pieces of brass : the body, the window frame and the steering wheel. The steering wheel seems to have been soldered to the dashboard. The frame for the front window seems only to be plugged in the body. I have not tried to remove it. The model is fixed on a wooden baseplate made of darkened Meranti. The size is 75x75x9.5 mm. The model is fixed with the four pins under the wheels plugged into four holes in the wood. I still can't tell who made this model. |
