I can't tell you much about this Volvo PV455 Duett. It is a 1:43 scale model made of china. An inscription on the bottom only says : Inge L. '98 It has been sold for 315 SEK ( 35.6 € ) on tradera.com on April 21, 2012. Does anybody know more about this model ?
I found this Volvo 440 Turbo in an auction this weekend. First of all I have never seen one like this before. The Volvo is made out of a heavy metal. The RHD ( right hand drive ) model has a basic interior but no glazing and it comes fixed on a wooden base. It is a 1:43 scale model and it measures 10x4x3 cm ( lwh ). Due to the inscription on the bottom, I guess that it is a former promotional model from Volvo. I would be pleased if someone could help me to find more infos about this scale model. Photos used with permission. Courtesy of Marjorie ( photos 1-4 ). Courtesy of Bert Jan ( photos 5-9 ) The seller (Ayrshire Hospice) was unfortunately unable to give any information on this model because they received it as donation and sold it this weekend to raise money.
This light blue pedal car has been photographed at a swap meet in Chabanais (16), France in 2010. It is not certain that it is really a Volvo PV544. Any help is warmly welcome. But there has been a new input today. The Volvo Museum Göteborg has published two black and white photos on their FB account. They have asked their followers the following: We found these two pictures in our Historical Archive - does anybody know where they come from? Source: FB page of Volvo Museum Göteborg As you will notice both set of photos show slightly different versions of a Volvo PV544 pedal car. Do you have any info's regarding these models? I was also able to find in the States a model of this Volvo ÖV4.
I can give you a few updates since I was able to measure and inspect the model, First of all the scale is more likely 1:76 than 1:87 ( H0 ). I was not able to find the exact dimensions of the real car. I just found the length of the wheelbase. And compared with the model car, the scale is very close to 1:76. The model is made of three pieces of brass : the body, the window frame and the steering wheel. The steering wheel seems to have been soldered to the dashboard. The frame for the front window seems only to be plugged in the body. I have not tried to remove it. The model is fixed on a wooden baseplate made of darkened Meranti. The size is 75x75x9.5 mm. The model is fixed with the four pins under the wheels plugged into four holes in the wood. I still can't tell who made this model. The company Marchesini which is also called AMB Marchesini has produced this Volvo delivery truck. The tinplate model has no resemblance with a real Volvo car that I know. But since Volvo is marked on the rear side, we have to assume that it was sold as a Volvo car. The model measures 9.5 x 3 x 4 cm ( l,w,h ). This specific model was sold for 217.50 € in an auction on the 2011-11-09. 'Nopri' was a franchised store chain in Belgium. The first shop opened in 1933. A total of 220 of these stores existed until the 1990's in Belgium. Nopri belongs to the 'Carrefour' group. Source : www.carrefour.eu/corporate/History The website leotoys.net shows more models from Marchesini. You can even see the same car in another livery. I would be pleased if someone could help me to find more infos about these models. Photos used with permission.
The Italian company INGAP produced a Volvo tinplate scale model in the 1950's. The model doesn't reflect a specific prototype. This brown ( even it it seems to be red on the picture ) scale model has a friction drive and black rubber wheels. It measures 14cm. I would be pleased if someone could help me to find more infos about this model and the company INGAP. Source & copyright : www.vectis.co.uk A Dutch Volvo fan found this Volvo ÖV4 brass model in an antique store in Sweden. Unfortunately the owners of the store were not able to tell where this 1:87 Volvo model comes from. He paid 10€ for this scale model. Does anybody know more about this model ? I found this set of a Volvo 760 and a caravan. Due to the language on the box, I presume that this set was only for the Scandinavian market. I asked the current owner to get more infos but didn't receive any reply. Both models seems to be made out of plastic. The Volvo 760 looks like those from Playwell except that these have blackened windows and are R/C models. Does anybody know more about this model ? Source : tradera.com
I found this model of a slightly different Volvo P1800 a few days ago. It seems that this scratchbuilt model reflects the design exercise by Italian designer Fissore. You can find a b/w picture of this car on page 106 of the book 'Volvo 1800 - The complete story'. The current owner of the model pretends that is was made with only this picture as a source of information. The model seems to made of wood and measures 380x150x155 mm ( l x w x h ). The wheelbase is 220 mm and the tyres are made of rubber. Does anybody know more about this model ? Photos used with permission.
