Volvo S40 'frame' by Scale Models Unlimited for Volvo

Nice surprises still occur. Just have a look at this model of a second generation Volvo S40 (2004–2012) steel frame. This rather unusual model has been commissioned by Volvo as demonstration model and has been shipped to each Volvo dealership in the United States. A total of 380 units have been shipped across the Sates. The scale of this model is somewhere around 1:5 and 1:6.

	Standard chassis: Used primarily in areas where enhanced deformation control is not required.	Utilized progressively crumple and dissipate crash forces in areas where a lot of energy needs to be absorbed.	Deforms at higher loads than high-strength steel to limit and re-route collision forces as they get closer to the passenger compartment	Very hard steel used in the inner sections of the front and rear bumper rails, and as reinforcement members in the doors. This steel incorporates maximum stiffness to provide front-line protection.
