Corgi has offered many different gift sets. A very few featured Volvo models. Here is in fact the second set I have found so far with a Volvo P1800. The Corgi gift set # 20 contains a Scammell Handyman tri-deck car transporter and six different cars. All the cars have Whizzwheels. The truck is painted in a nice blue over white over orange color scheme. Every wheel of the truck and the trailer have detailed cast hubs. The gift set includes a Scammell Cab car transporter and the following six cars :

Here is probably a pre-production model of a Volvo 740/760 by Corgi. Such resin models were often used to see the model before it went into production in a smaller scale. As you can see this model is not complete. The front side doors, the hood, the bumpers, lights and trim are all missing. This example has also a lot of small air bubbles in the body which tells us that the resin was not the best. The roof has also wrapped but this is quite normal with such large and thin resin surfaces. Another striking detail is the unsymmetrical air intake grille between the hood and the front window (please see photo below ). But to my surprise the 1:36 scale models from the normal production have this error too. I have to admit that I never paid attention to this detail before. This resin models measures 250x102.9x65.5 mm which results in a approximate scale of 1:19. Click here for pictures of a 1:36 scale Volvo 760 by Corgi.
Here is a Volvo 760 by Corgi decorated as a promotional model for the Dutch airline company KLM-Cargo. The brown metallic Volvo has a black interior and features opening front side doors and a opening hood with detailed engine compartment. These are characteristics of every Volvo 740/760 in 1:36 scale by Corgi.
The differences between this and a normal release are :
Here is yet another a set by Corgi. It contains a red Volvo 245 break with black interior and a red caravan. Both 3'' models are packed in a blister on cardboard. I was told by the owner that this color combo which has been released in 1984 is rather rare and harder to find as the one in cream or in turquoise. The one in cream ( with cream caravan ) was released in 1973 and the one in turquoise ( with cream caravan having a white roof ) was released after 1973. Corgi marketed these sets later under the name 'corgi twin'.
This gift set No. 41 by Corgi seems to be very sought-after by collectors. Otherwise selling prices between 500 and 700 € would not be reached. The gift set includes a Scammell Cab car transporter and the following six cars :
This set was sold for 531 GBP ( 634 € / 837 $ ) a few days ago.
Corgi has once released this Christmas gift set. It offered the possibility to write down your name so the one who received the present knew where it came from. The 1:36 models included in this set were :
All three models are boxed individually inside the outer packaging. The item number for this set was C59/3. Photo used with permission.
