The tag says it all. It's all about older models which I have discovered only recently. |
This set featuring a Volvo 760 was sold last weekend on a well known auction site. The price was 17.76 € for the set. The 3-car set features a Cadillac, a Rover SD1 and a Volvo 760. This set contains not only those 3'' car models but also a couple of street signs with stands. The whole set of pieces is fixed properly in a blister on cardboard. This set was made in Italy by Giodi. There existed at least one other similar set featuring a Cadillac, a Rover SD1 and a Renault 20. This set was sold the same day for 18.89 €. This Volvo 760 existed as single car in the following colors : gray, blue metallic and red. You may know the brand Giodo from the models in the Ü-eggs. A Volvo 760 as well as a Volvo 245 were available in several colors in the Ü-eggs around 1987. Here is a website which shows many of these models www.ue-ei-portal-sammlerkatalog.de

I have recently found on a Spanish website a Volvo 343 DL by Hot Wheels in a color I had never seen before. The 1:43 scale model was black with a black interior. The diecast model of the Volvo 343 DL has not only been offered under the Hot Wheels label. You can find it also as a Mebetoys or Tonka model. All these labels belong to the Mattel group. This Volvo 343 DL has always been offered under item number A-130. The website Grantoros.com is providing a huge amount of interesting and very detailed info's regarding models by Mebetoys. But there is not much regarding the Volvo 343 model. Here is a short list of the various versions and liveries I was so far able to find :
Don’t hesitate to send me your comments, photos, catalogs or anything else you may have or know about these Volvo 343 models. Every tiny info can help solving this puzzle. You can contact me here. Update : A friendly Dutch collector just send me the photo on your left. It shows the same Volvo 343 DL but distributed under the name littletois. This label was used by the still existing Dutch company Hema. The model offered by Hema was also made by Hot Wheels. The 1:43 scale model is the same and has the same features as the ones released directly by Hot Wheels. The packaging is less sophisticated and consists just of a carboard base with a blister as top. The Swedish company Kabo produced simple plastic models. These models were used as give-aways with 'Kalaspuffar' cereal in the 1960's. Kabo produced not only cars but also small trucks, ships, airplanes as well as train models. Kabo offered among others four Volvo scale models : the Volvo PV445 Duett, the PV445 Duett panel van, the PV544 and the Volvo Amazon 4-door. The scale of these Volvo models is approximatively 1:87. These models existed in six different colors. These colors vary depending if it is a model without or with tires. The Volvo PV445 Duett and Volvo PV544 existed in these colors: blue, red, yellow, black, silver and bronze/gold. These cars came without tires. These models were released in 1959. The Volvo PV445 Duett panel van and Volvo Amazon 4-door existed in these colors : blue, red, yellow, green, white and gold. These cars came with tires. These models were released in 1960. This one is decorated for the computer company Commodore which was well known back in the 1980's for their personal home computers. This small white scale model with the pink tires is based on Viking Toys product number 4293. The model is made of plastic and it is 7.2 cm long. Have also a look at this couple of promotional models.
