Volvo 760 'Super Value Pack' by Matchbox

This is a set offered by Matchbox under the name 'Super Value Pack'. The idea behind these sets were most certainly to promote and sell older models. The set was available under item # 25823. All the models were produced in China.

This 5 car set included the following 3'' models :

Volvo 480ES 'Super Value Pack' by Matchbox

I have recently found this set featuring a Volvo 480ES and an Audi Quattro in the same blister. It is the first time I have seen a set with a Volvo 480ES together with a second car. Please let me know if you have or do know of other sets like this.

Volvo 245 by Matchbox SuperKings

I have recently spotted yet another Volvo 245 from the Matchbox SuperKings range that I have never seen before. This one has a large roof-rack filled with many boxes and suitcases. The blue car with the black interior has the usual features of these 1:36 scale models : opening front side doors, opening trunk and over-sized tow-bar.

The Volvo who is packed together with a Datsun 250 in the 'Rally Set' has the same type of roof-rack.

Volvo 760 'Star Car' by Matchbox

I recently found a new packaging variant for the Volvo 760 3'' scale model by Matchbox. This version is composed of a cardboard in the form of a star and the blister holding the model. The copyright on the back of the cardboard says 1990. I suppose that it was distributed around this date and/or later.

This is a set offered by Matchbox under the name 'Super Value Pack'. The idea behind these sets were most certainly to promote and sell older models. This set seems to have been offered in 1990. The set was available under item # MB832.

This 4 car set included the following 3'' models :

- Monteverd Hai
- Opel Kadett GSi
- Volvo 760
- Volvo truck

red with white 'Big Top Circus' box

Other versions of the 'Super Value Pack' existed. Another example is this 5-car set which comes even with a poster showing the latest models. This set wears item # MB823.
It consists of the following models :

Ikarus 'City Line Tourist' coach
Monteverdi Hai
Dodge Challenger dragster
Volvo 760
Snorkel fire truck

More of these sets were available. There existed also other package versions. I will post an update as soon as I have been able to find more info about all these sets.

Volvo P1800 by Matchbox

The Volvo P1800 by Matchbox seems to be quite popular. I have rarely seen so many liveries for a single model in such a short time.
This special limited edition Volvo P1800 with "Seasons Greetings Matchbox USA 2010" has been produced back in 2010 by Color Comp for Matchbox USA as part of the Model of the Month Club. The P1800 comes, as with all Model of the Month models, in a generic white window box.

The US company Color Comp is specialized in pad printing scale models for various companies. They are also offering custom decorations for stores, companies or clubs wanting to have their own merchandising products.

Volvo 245 by Matchbox SuperKings

I have found this week another Matchbox SuperKings version. This set labeled 'Super Value Pack' includes a red 1:36 scale Volvo 245 DL and a green Monteverdi Hai from Matchbox's 1-75 model range. Matchbox added the Monteverdi for free as a bonus model. The right-hand-drive Volvo 245 DL has a orange-yellow interior. Other features of the car are the usual opening front side doors, the opening tailgate and the large plastic tow bar. This near mint set has been sold today for only 21 €.

UPDATED - Volvo C30 'Disney' by Matchbox

This Volvo C30 is a Code 2 model made for Disney by Matchbox. The set was offered as Matchbox Mickey Mouse Clubhouse 5-pack back in 2011.

On the left side of the white car there’s a decal ‘Best Friend’ and a picture of Minnie Mouse.
On the right side of the car there’s a decal ‘Look at that sparkle’.
The interior and base of the model are violet.

Product number is MB711 and the scale of the model is 1:61.
The car has been made in Thailand.

The 5-car Disney gift set includes furthermore :

Volvo XC90 by Matchbox

I have found a new colour version of the Volvo XC90 by Matchbox.

This dark green metallic Volvo XC90 has a grey interior.
The model was released in 2006 as #38 of the Superfast product line.
It is a limited edition of 15500 models.

I guess that everybody knows that Matchbox has produced the Volvo 480 ES in the past. But I discovered only recently that the model exists in several slightly different liveries. More obvious are the different packaging variations.
