NEW OLD MODELS FOUND
The tag says it all. It's all about older models which I have discovered only recently.
I have been listing this model for years in my database, But since it is very rare and really hard to find I decided to present it in this column. This P1900 has been produced in 1987 by BBR and sold under the name 'Valko Series'. The 1:43 scale model is made of resin and features many photo-etched parts. It is in my eyes the best Volvo P1900 scale model ever made.
The here shown model was sold on September 2, 2012 for 215,50 $ ( 168,35 € ) on a well known auction site in the States. It was initially advertised for 500 $ which was without a doubt rather unreasonable.
Volvo P1900 by Renko
A collector from Switzerland told me about this Volvo P1900.
It is a 1:43 scale model made of white metal and produced by Renko.
Renko has its origins in Sweden. But I have no idea who is behind that name.
Renko already did an open version of this car a few years ago. They produced an unauthorized but slightly modified copy of the Rob Eddie model. It had a rear numberplate, chromed trim on the sides, different headlamps, different rims and tires.
This is however a closed version and this one seems to be a copy of a former R&M model. If you inspect the pictures of both models you will see that they are identical with the exception of the name on the bottom-plate.
I'm however no sure how R&M produced their model. My guess is that they scaled down a Volvo P1900 that has been produced in Japan by K.S.Asahi as a 1:24 tinplate model.

1:24 Volvo P1900 with closed top made by K.S. Asahi
_This is a rather rare Volvo P1900 produced from 1956 to 1958 by Japanese toy maker KS.
This is the 'Fire Chief' version which is quite scarce.
The 1:24 tinplate model has a working round beacon on the roof and a detailed tin printed interior. The battery operated model works with a remote control connected by cable.
The steering wheel is missing on this example.
