NEW OLD MODELS FOUND
The tag says it all. It's all about older models which I have discovered only recently.
I have discovered once again a new set made by Majorette. The duo consist of a Volvo 245 Estate and a single axle trailer with two bikes.
The Volvo 245 Estate is painted copper metallic and lettered for 'touring club de France'. The single axle trailer is made out of gray metal and holds two racing bikes. The bikes are made out of plastic and are red and yellow.
The set is packed in a blister which features a white plastic base.
I am curious to find out how many versions Majorette released from the Volvo 760. Finding the different colors was an easy task. But it is more difficult to get an overview of every double-pack and every packaging version that has been released.
The last one that turned up is a green Volvo 760 packed in a blister showing an advertisement for the WWF ( World Wildlife Fund ). The blister calls to donate money in order to protect endangered animals. You were also able to win several prizes. The first prize was a trip to Florida.
This release was only offered in France and issued in collaboration with WWW France. The deadline for the game was September 1988 so I suppose this set has only been offered that year.
I would be very pleased if you could contact me if you are aware of other versions.
It seems that I have put an eye on Majorette models these days.
The special thing about these two cars are the markings on top of the blisters : SWB - SÜDWESTBANK.
These models have certainly been give-aways from that German bank. This is quite an unusual choice for a bank coming from Stuttgart ( Baden-Wurttemberg) since Mercedes Benz and Porsche have their headquarters not far away.
You can also notice on the photos that both scale models have different types of wheels.
I have once again found a set by Majorette featuring a Volvo XC90.
This is a 3-car Police set containing the following cars :
All three cars are painted silver metallic and have a large blue stripe on the sides and a blue hood.
The Ford and the Porsche have large sized red-light bars on the roof. The Volvo XC90 has a smaller one that has unfortunately been placed on top of the closed glass sunroof.
It seems that this set has been released a year ago.
This gift set No. 41 by Corgi seems to be very sought-after by collectors. Otherwise selling prices between 500 and 700 € would not be reached.
The gift set includes a Scammell Cab car transporter and the following six cars :
This set was sold for 531 GBP ( 634 € / 837 $ ) a few days ago.
Playart offered a Volvo 343 as a 3'' model in various colours : light green, green, blue metallic, copper brown and yellow.
I just learned that the copper brown version was also available in a set named 'Super Ten'.
The other models in the set are :
Playart was a Hong Kong based company.

There have been many Volvo 760 scale models produced in 3-inch scale. The company M.C.Toy did a kind of hybrid version.
Hybrid because the body was made of metal and the bottom-plate was made of plastic. A rather unusual combination. The model came packed in a blister on a cardboard. What makes this one more interesting is the fact that the back of the cardboard could be used as one piece of track for a whole race circuit.
This one is for fans of the 1980's soap 'Dallas'.
The set consist of a red Volvo 245 and a horse trailer. Both models are packed in a blister specially decorated for the famous TV soap 'Dallas'.
This near mint set was sold this morning for $ 67.33 ( 50€ ) .
