The tag says it all. It's all about older models which I have discovered only recently. |

This 1:43 Volvo 480 scale model has been given to dealers at the launch of the very first Volvo 480 back in 1986. Only 500 numbered pieces have been produced. The unpainted models are mounted on a shiny plastic base. The model seems to be made out of a heavy metal.
I do not know who produced these models. But I would guess that it was AHC. This model looks very close to the ones that AHC produced later in various colours. The main differences between these two runs are the non-opening doors and non-working headlamps on this one. I would be pleased if someone could help me to find more infos about this scale model. I guess that everybody knows that Matchbox has produced the Volvo 480 ES in the past. But I discovered only recently that the model exists in several slightly different liveries. More obvious are the different packaging variations.
- packed in a matchbox - white with beige interior - 'Volvo' marked in blue on the hood - '480 ES' marked in blue on the side doors - ( sorry but this this one is missing on the photo )
You will find all these variations in the photo below.
I found today a packaging variation of a Volvo 480 Turbo by Pilen. Everybody knows that AHC-Pilen did a lot of color schemes and packaging versions of the Volvo 480 ES and Volvo 480 Turbo. I found this red Volvo 480 Turbo in a box which was most certainly destined for the Spanish market. The series is called 'Serie Oro Luxe' and the item number is 378. The silver gray Volvo 480 ES ( item number 377 ) on the right photo has been listed for some time in my database.
