Further info's regarding the GT models by Matchbox - quote from matchbox.wiki.com: Super GT (or Super G.T.) is a range of miniature models, based on older 1970s castings in which interiors are no longer fitted, the windows are solid in color, opening features are cast shut and the bases are black plastic. Some models have white glow windows, these include the glowing race track "Streak Racing" models. The original name for the line was to be the "Budget Range" and models were designated with "BR". Model names are taken from the original name, but do not appear on the castings. The models were sold single or with launcher, and in gift sets. The line was introduced 1985 and ran trough 1988, between 1985 and 1987 the line was made in England, after in China. For 1988 all were recolored. In 1990 some models were reissued in neon colors and named "Neon Racers". These are denoted with "NR".

I have acquired earlier this year a 3-inch model of the Volvo 760. This diecast model has been distributed by Edocar. This prompted me to search for further info's regarding this brand. I have translated the following text. I found the original article written in German on Wikiwand: The label Edocar belonged to the Dutch companies “Edor Benelux NL BV” and “Fred Beherr BV”. This labeled offered scale models and toys between 1986 and 2007. Edocar had obtained licenses from the May Cheong Group as well as from Yat Ming Industrial Factory Limited. These licenses allowed Edor to produce and sell Maisto and Yat Ming scale models in Europe. Eder had been founded back in 1950 and was until 1985 a distributor of Matchbox models from the Lesney Products & Co. Ltd. Edocar offered mostly 1:64 scale models made out of diecast which were produced in China. Edocar added later also models from Hartoy, Real Toy, Tiger Wheels and Golden Wheels to their product line. The very first model range called “Mini” (EM) featured 50 different 1:64 scale models. The second line was called “EA” and consisted of eight different 1:43 old-timer (prewar) models. The EM-range had been enlarged in 1988 by adding new color versions. The year 1990 saw an even bigger increase of new color versions for the various models. The first own catalog was printed in 1992 which presented the complete range of available models. 1992 was also the year which saw the introduction of the “AK” range which consisted of specific 2CV (Citroen 2CV) models of the Dutch cartoon TV series Alfred Jodocus Kwak. Another product was a range of play streets called “Poldertown”. “Alarm” was another product range featuring six different scale models which featured sirens and blue lights. The “Super-Wheels” (EB) range consisted of six cars with friction motors. And there was also the “EC” range which offered models that changed their color when put into cold or warm water. 1991 saw also a new range of models and figurines inspired by the comic series “The Flintstones”. The following product ranges existed in 1990:
Edocars best known scale models are probably the ones decorated for Coca-Cola. The licenses from Hartoy allowed to distribute models in the Coco-Cola colors and featuring the Coca-Cola logos. 1995 saw the introduction of the Baja Bug Beetle (CJ 1 Buggy) which played the song “Always Coca-Cola”. This model was also delivered with the corresponding texts and notes of the song.
The VW Shirocco I was offered as a 1:64 Yat Ming scale model made in China. Yet Ming offered at the same moment the same model except that it was still made in Hong Kong. Later on only the Edocar version (made in China) was available. There has also been a model of the Austin Mini from the EA range which was not made in the usual scale of 1:64 but in 1:55. Some colors were exclusively reserved for the Edocar brand like for instance the Ferrari Daytona which was offered in white by Edocar. The various product ranges were renamed in 1999. The were now called: Travel, Engine, Farm, Music and Super. Only one model car is known that has been developed and manufactured by Edocar. It is a 1:64 Lancia Rally 037. Edocar offered their product back in 1999 in thirteen European countries as well as in Singapur and Hong Kong. "Edor Benelux NL BV" went 2007 bankrupt and manufacturing was stopped as well. The Hong Kong based company Loyal Bright Ltd. marketed for a short period end of 2007 a range of Edocar models. Edocar catalog: I was able to buy this 3-inch model of a Volvo 760. I recently meet a Swiss Volvo fan and Rob Eddie scale model collector while visiting a Volvo event in Belgium. He revealed me that he had some Rob Eddie models which were missing in my database. He was very kind an took a few photos of these models back at home in Switzerland. Both models I will present you here have been issued for Rob Eddie's 30th anniversary. This was back in 2007. Both models have a yellow circle on their roofs which contains the three yellow numbers: 1977, 30 and 2007. The inscription has been stamped onto the models. It is not just a decal. Both Volvo models, the PV4 and the Volvo 740 estate are limited editions of only 30 units each. This is certified by a small etched number-plate on the undersides of both models. I found this plastic Volvo 760 R/C model one October day back in 2011. It has been produced in Japan by Taiyo and distributed by the company Brio Scanditoys. The scale of this model is 1:24. I do know that Brio Scanditoys released a lot of Volvo scale models in the past but so far I was not able to find correct and detailed information’s about their product range. I will post more as soon as I have found more about the Japanese company Taiyo Kogyo Corporation. Courtesy of Stefan UPDATE : A Volvo fan and model collector from Poland contacted me recently and left the following comment : I've got the same one but in a silver metallic finish. Bought personally by me on a sunny day in Göteborg, Sweden August 1984. I remember the price - 240 SEK. In nineties donated to younger brother, preserved good shape. Inspected yesterday in his room. Beautiful piece in history of toys engineering. After thirty years box condition is poor, but the car is OK and still racing fast :D Volvo 760 GLE by TAIYO - The pioneer of drifting! He was very kind and took a couple of excellent photos of his silver metallic Volvo 760 R/C model. Courtesy of Michael K.
This set featuring a Volvo 760 was sold last weekend on a well known auction site. The price was 17.76 € for the set. The 3-car set features a Cadillac, a Rover SD1 and a Volvo 760. This set contains not only those 3'' car models but also a couple of street signs with stands. The whole set of pieces is fixed properly in a blister on cardboard. This set was made in Italy by Giodi. There existed at least one other similar set featuring a Cadillac, a Rover SD1 and a Renault 20. This set was sold the same day for 18.89 €. This Volvo 760 existed as single car in the following colors : gray, blue metallic and red. You may know the brand Giodo from the models in the Ü-eggs. A Volvo 760 as well as a Volvo 245 were available in several colors in the Ü-eggs around 1987. Here is a website which shows many of these models www.ue-ei-portal-sammlerkatalog.de Here is yet another promotional model based on the Volvo 760 once offered by the Swedish company Viking Toys. This one is decorated for the computer company Commodore which was well known back in the 1980's for their personal home computers. This small white scale model with the pink tires is based on Viking Toys product number 4293. The model is made of plastic and it is 7.2 cm long. A fellow Volvo fan and collector made me recently aware of this Volvo 760 GLE scale model. The 3'' model was made for the British label TC Toys by Majorette. The Volvo 760 is Majorette's standard model which consists of a diecast body and a plastic bottom-plate. The model is made in France. TC Toys has printed their own product number on the left bottom corner of the cardboard. The item number is 34 06279. TC Toys stands for Thomas Cork SM Ltd. It seems that the company started doing business back in 1984. It had his headquarter in Nottingham, Great Britain. The company had been dissolved in November 1995.
I've just found another Volvo 760 model by Viking Toys. This one is a promotional model decorated with two decals for Bamse and Clock. Bamse is a cartoon and Clock was a fast-food restaurant. This small yellow scale model with the red tires is based on Viking Toys product number 4293. The model is made of plastic and it is 7.2 cm long. It was made in Sweden. This is another big set offered by Matchbox and including a Volvo 760. This one has been offered under the name 'Super Value Pack'. It contains a total of 20 different models. The Volvo 760 is red and features a black interior. This 20-car 'Super Value Set' was offered by Matchbox back in 1989. The box measures 15" x 15" ( 38x38cm ).
