A Dutch collector has recently found this 1:43 Volvo P1800ES diecast model. It is packed in a window box which is labeled 'M-Smart' and 'Modeel Collection'. I have never seen one of this names before. The dark brown scale model is the same as the one from Del Prado. The baseplate also says ‘Del Prado’. There are no numbers and no other specifications on the box.
I have been listing this model for years in my database, But since it is very rare and really hard to find I decided to present it in this column. This P1900 has been produced in 1987 by BBR and sold under the name 'Valko Series'. The 1:43 scale model is made of resin and features many photo-etched parts. It is in my eyes the best Volvo P1900 scale model ever made. The here shown model was sold on September 2, 2012 for 215,50 $ ( 168,35 € ) on a well known auction site in the States. It was initially advertised for 500 $ which was without a doubt rather unreasonable.
Here is a couple of a rather strange Volvo's. These double-end Volvo 264 have been assembled by using each time two 1:43 scale models by Norev as base. They have been cut in half and assembled and repainted. The blue-light on top of the roof centre is certainly helping to hide the gap between both bodies. The yellow one has even the Volvo logo printed on each hood. These funny models have been built by R&M Models. They are certainly not must haves. But I'm sure that they will put a smile on every face when they show up in someones showcase.
Heco Miniatures released between 1990 and 1991 a 1:43 scale Volvo PV544. The rtr model was made out of resin. Four different colors were available : black, burgundy red, midnight blue and beige. 375 models of each color were produced. A French reseller is offering some Volvo PV544 scale models by Heco Miniatures which I have never seen before. The French company Heco Miniatures went out of business not so long ago. It seems that the above mentioned reseller was able to acquire all these models after everything was foreclosed. This batch comprises the following pieces :
1. Complete mold to cast the resin body of the Volvo PV544. 2. This seems to be the prototype body : you still can see the sanded putty on it. 3. This is a near complete but unbuilt kit : only the glazing and the complete set of trim and door handles are missing. The steering wheel has been fixed to the already black painted dashboard. 4. This an non-complete kit : axles, rims, the whole interior, the glazing, the complete set of trim and door handles are missing. 5. This is an already painted but not entirely built model : this is the only one that comes with glazing. 6. This is an already painted but unbuilt kit which comes in an quite unusual blue over black paint scheme. This version has never been offered for sale. 7. This is an already painted but unbuilt kit which comes in an quite unusual blight grey over black paint scheme. This version has never been offered for sale. 8. This is a set of 8 interiors which comes fixed on a resin base.
All these items are still for sale on ebay at this moment. But the price tags are in my opinion much to high. I only payed around 65 € for each of the two rtr models that I have in my private collection. Here is the price list for the various kits and models :
This 1:43 Volvo 480 scale model has been given to dealers at the launch of the very first Volvo 480 back in 1986. Only 500 numbered pieces have been produced. The unpainted models are mounted on a shiny plastic base. The model seems to be made out of a heavy metal.
I do not know who produced these models. But I would guess that it was AHC. This model looks very close to the ones that AHC produced later in various colours. The main differences between these two runs are the non-opening doors and non-working headlamps on this one. I would be pleased if someone could help me to find more infos about this scale model. A collector from Switzerland told me about this Volvo P1900. It is a 1:43 scale model made of white metal and produced by Renko. Renko has its origins in Sweden. But I have no idea who is behind that name. Renko already did an open version of this car a few years ago. They produced an unauthorized but slightly modified copy of the Rob Eddie model. It had a rear numberplate, chromed trim on the sides, different headlamps, different rims and tires. This is however a closed version and this one seems to be a copy of a former R&M model. If you inspect the pictures of both models you will see that they are identical with the exception of the name on the bottom-plate. I'm however no sure how R&M produced their model. My guess is that they scaled down a Volvo P1900 that has been produced in Japan by K.S.Asahi as a 1:24 tinplate model. 1:43 Volvo P1900 with closed top made by Renko

1:24 Volvo P1900 with closed top made by K.S. Asahi I found this Volvo 264 by Norev in a colour that I have never seen before. The 1:43 scale model is painted a nice yellow with a cream white interior. This is also only the second time I have seen a cream white interior in a Volvo 264 by Norev. They have most of the time a black one. The model car is packed in the blister with the plastic base.
I have been able to find two new versions of the Volvo 264 GL Taxi by Norev in 1:43 scale. The first is painted in a nice turquoise metallic and the second is a red one. Both have black interiors and are packed in the same type of blister. Other characteristics of these Taxi models are the white Taxi sign and the white antenna on the roof and the black sticker on both front side doors which reads : 'Taxi-Radio 830-86-86' _ Volvo 264 GL Taxi - turquoise metallic Volvo 264 GL Taxi - red with black interior
This Volvo 264 GL released as a Taxi was also available in these colours : - white - copper metallic - light green metallic - green metallic Keystone Models offers Code 3 models in 1:43 scale.
Most models that are made to order reflect British Police cars. The modified Volvo Police cars are based on Minichamps and Hongwell models. It always depends on availability of the base model. It seems to be very hard these days to find a Volvo V70 from 2000 made by Minichamps. The models are normally also converted to RHD ( right hand drive ).
