Neo Scale Models is the specialist when it comes to announcing new models. Here are once again some new to come 1:43 Volvo scale models. It is however doubtful that the given dates will be respected.

The two following models have already been presented on Thursday, July 19, 2012.
Thanks again to Vegar for telling me about these news. The latest release in the Nordic Collection by Skandinavisk Modeltrafik is a Volvo PV445 Duett Panel Van decorated as service car of the Swedish electrical power company NEA ( Närkes Elektriska AB ). This scale model has been released several weeks ago but it was only now that I was able to get some photos. This car has been preserved an still exists today.
Nordic Collection overview Premium-X has published a few days ago photos of some new Volvo models on there new facebook account. The 1:43 scale models are those already announced a few weeks ago and seem to become available very soon.
     As with previous Volvo models made by Premium-X or Ixo, not every detail is correct on the car for the various model-years. And you can easily see some quality issues on these pictures trying to promote the new models. If you look close at he photos, you will be able to detect some obvious problems : - the holes for the photo etched windscreen wipers on the PV444 are way to big ( they are intended for bigger plastic ones ) - the PV444 is announced as being from 1943 : the PV444 was first presented in 1944 and the first cars were sold in 1947 - there are issues with the paint on the 2-tone Amazon ( left side, around the window frames, ... ) - the 2-tone Amazon has not the correct boot handle - the first model-years had a divided one - there are issues with the paint on the 2-door Amazon ( around the window frames, ... ) Volvo PV444 - item # PRD228        Volvo Amazon 120 4-door - item # PRD229     Volvo Amazon 130 2-door - item # PRD230     Source & copyright : facebook.com/premiumxmodels
Thank you very much to Alkis from Greece for telling me about these pictures on facebook. The thirteenth model in the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas is a Volvo PV52. The scale model is painted midnight blue and has a black interior. Editions Atlas labels the model as a PV52. But at the same time they write PV51/PV52 on the front page of the folder. The PV51 and PV52 were in fact the same car. The main difference was the level of luxury in the interior between both models. The body and the engine were the same. The PV51 was first launched end of 1936. The PV52 followed only shortly after. The car underwent only minor changes during his lifetime. He was offered until 1945 before being replaced by the PV60.

I still ignore when and in which order the models will be released.
It seems however that the Volvo PV52 is marked as next release in several customer accounts. Here is a quick overview of the latest 1:43 scale models which Minichamps has released and which should be available very soon in the model shops.

Matchbox is offering in the States a new livery of the Volvo P1800. This release reflects the 'The Saint' version. The scale model is plain white and has 'The Saint' printed as an abstract logo on the hood. The scale model comes in a special decorated cardboard box. Only 50 models have been made by Color Comp for Matchbox USA as a special limited promotion for the 1960's TV show "The Saint".  |
