NEW RELEASES |
You will be able to find here news about the latest Volvo scale models which have been announced or just been released. |
Editions Atlas has just published that they will implement a small price increase for every ongoing collection starting from this week. This concerns of course also the Volvo Collection. Editions Atlas gives the following reasons:
Each of their clients will receive a letter explaining the price increases. Editions Atlas will charge each customer an extra 2 to 3€ per model. Editions Atlas indicates that this price increase doesn't fully cover the actual higher manufacturing costs. Editions Atlas has therefore made other efforts to cut their costs: logistics, accounting and a couple other services ave been centralized. This has resulted in a sharp drop of employees. Editions Atlas hopes to have taken the right decisions and being able to start with a smaller but healthier constellation. All these changes may explain some of the logistic problems many customers may have experienced over the last couple months. Editions Atlas has outsourced their customer service which has certainly not helped customers who were wondering where their models are stuck.

A person from Singapore offers a bunch of 1:43 Code-3 models. Most are more or less exact replicas of cars used in and around Singapore. Among all these versions are three different Volvo models. The Volvo's are based on modified models by Motorart. Each model is made with customized water-slide decals, light-bars as well as other details. The models are offered under the name Singapore Scale Models and can be obtained on the E-commerce platform carousell.com. Volvo XC70 Singapore Police Force - Fast Response Vehicle

My objection is that these models have on issue: these are all right-hand steered scale models but they drive on the left side of the road in Singapore! This is due to its British colonial history which led to British driving rules being adopted. A guy in Great Britain offers some left-hand conversions for modern Volvo scale models but I guess the guy behind Singapore Scale Models is not aware of this.
Source: vimeo.com/57062110 .... sorry but no Volvo´s this time The number fifty-seven in the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas is the Volvo PV4. The Volvo PV4 is the covered version of Volvo's first car - the ÖV4. The PV4 appeared in the summer of 1927. The bodywork of the PV4 was based on the Weymann principle, with an insulated wooden frame without wood-to-wood contact between the components and covered with artificial leather instead of steel. The seats could be converted into a comfortable bed for two people. The PV4 was equipped with a 4-cylinder side-valve engine which achieved a decent power output of 28 hp (21 kW) out of 1940 cc. The three forward gears allowed a top speed of 90 km/h (56 mph). Volvo produced only 694 in 1927.
The all-new Volvo XC90 will be offered later this year as a 1:18 scale model by Welly. It will be available under Welly's label GTA. Welly offers more detailed scale models under that name. The price tag will probably turn around the 80-90 € (90-100 $) range. The first release of Volvo's actual XC90 will be painted blue. The item number will be gta11009b. The model will most probably be ready for this autumn. Welly showed earlier this year at the Toy Fair in Nürnberg that they will offer the XC90 also in two smaller scales: 1:36
1:64
A precise release date has not yet been communicated for either of these three models. The above photos show the actual XC90 and not a model!

Griffin Models has recently finished the first two rtr (ready-to-run) versions of their Volvo VESC model. Griffin Models will offer the Volvo VESC in two versions. Only 12 rtr models of each version will be available. The Volvo VESC has never been offered before as scale model. The Volvo VESC – Volvo Experimental Safety Car was a safety vehicle which was built back in 1972. Many features of that car served as base for the 200 series. The number fifty-six in the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas is the Volvo 264 Ambulance built by Ringborg. The Swedish company from Norrköping built this model from 1982 to 1985. Volvo offered also ambulance models in the 1970's and 1980's based on a regular 245 estate featuring an higher roof. The here shown scale model represents a later design which features a complete coach-built rear body. The other Swedish coach-builder company Nillson (Yngve Nilsson Karosseri) built nearly identical ambulance models. This specific ambulance was available with either a six-cylinder petrol (B28E) or a six-cylinder diesel (D26) engine. These ambulances were all built on Volvo 260 chassis even if they have all been offered with Volvo 240 badges. The official VIN numbers prove this.
