Volvo Amazon by Wiking

Wiking has announced after many many years a completely new engineered Volvo model. Wiking will release a two-door Volvo Amazon later this year in December. The model will be made out of plastic. The first release will be available in pearl white and will feature a red interior. It will be offered under item number 022801 (EAN 4006190228015) The first photo of the H0 (1:87) model also shows that the Amazon will be fitted with white wall tires. Wiking mentions that their Amazon model is reflecting model year 1956. This is in fact good news since Brekina's Volvo Amazon reflects the later versions from the 1960's.

Wiking seems to have also a four-door version of the Volvo Amazon in their production pipeline. So good news for the H0 car fans.

Here you can see a photo of the pre-production model showed earlier this year at the Toy Fair in Nürnberg.

Volvo TP21 'UN' by Editions Atlas

The number sixty-nine in the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas is the Volvo TP21 UN (United Nations). Volvo's TP21 off-road radio communications vehicle (radiobil) was used by the Swedish Armed Forces. Volvo offered the 4x4 TP21 between 1953 and 1958.
Volvo's TP21 was used by the Swedish Army in Cyprus in the 1960's under an UN (United Nations) mandate. The first international peacekeeping troops arrived in Cyprus in March 13, 1964. The first troops were Canadian, followed shortly by Irish, Finnish and Swedish contingents. The TP21 was therefore repainted in UN's all white paint scheme. Only a handful photos exist in the public domain which makes is pretty difficult to be able to tell which is which. A couple photos show the Volvo TP21 with sightly different signs during the UN mission in Cyprus.
