Volvo 145 Polis (S)

Neo Scale Models has recently released the first photo of their upcoming Volvo 145 Polis model. This resin model represents a Swedish Police car. It is painted in the well known Swedish Police livery of black and white which was used for most of the 20th century. The scale model features 'Polis' lettering on the side doors as well as the hood and the trunk. Two blue beacons and a searchlight are mounted on the roof. The car features even an extra rear-view mirror on the front right wing.

As you may already know I don't know much about Police cars. I can't tell you therefore if this scale model is an exact replica of the cars once used by Swedish law enforcement.

You can pre-order this 1:43 sale model under item number NEO49523 at your local hobby store. I don't know the official retail price for this model.

Volvo P210 Duett 'Tele' by Editions Atlas

The number fifty in the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas is a Volvo P210 Duett in the colors of the Swedish telecommunication company Televerket. This Volvo has also been used by Volvo for promoting their Duett models (see photos at the end). The scale model wears the usual orange paint scheme (RAL 2009) and comes with a wooden ladder and a telescopic pole on the roof rack. This diecast model is made by Ixo in China.

I'm sure that many will say : oooh no not another Duett. This is of course a very legitimate opinion. The Volvo P210 Duett has however a different shape and a different angle of the windshield compared to the PV445 Duett's. This means that both Duett's were in fact two different cars. Please compare this scale model to the photos of the original car (see photos at the end) and let me know what you think.

Volvo 780 Bertone by Premium-X

Premium-X has released their Volvo 780 Bertone scale model nearly the same moment as Triple9Collection did. Premium-X models are distributed by PCT. This company is also the owner of IXO. They produce all the models for the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas, as well as for the labels Triple9Collection and BoS-Models (1:43 scale models).

The shape and dimensions of the scale model are correct. They have scanned a real car to get a correct replica of the Volvo 780 Bertone. The alloy rims as well as the interior are very well reproduced. The model features a closed glass sunroof. And the side indicators tell us that the car represents the version for the US market. This version has in my opinion a nice color combination which suits the car very well and which allows everybody to have a peek at the interior.

This model wears the same mistake as the one offered by Triple9Collection : the model year written on the box says 1977. This is of course a big mistake. 1987 is the correct model year.

This 1:43 scale model is available as a limited edition. They don't tell us however how many models will be made in total. You can buy one for 30.99 € under item number PRD371 at your local hobby store.

Volvo 780 Bertone by Triple 9 Collection

Triple9Collection has finally released their first scale model. This rather new label had announced their first Volvo models back in the summer of 2013. And the first releases should have been available for September and October that same year. Finally and after a tiny delay of just a few months the first model - a Volvo 780 Bertone - has been released.

This diecast replica is made by Ixo in China. It looks very promising. The shape and dimensions of the scale model are correct. Ixo has scanned a real car to get a correct replica of the Volvo 780 Bertone. The alloy rims as well as the interior are very well reproduced. The model features a closed glass sunroof.And the side indicators tell us that the car represents the version for the US market.

But it would not be a product made in China without an issue. The model year written on the box says 1977. This is of course a big mistake. 1987 is the correct model year.

This 1:43 scale model is available in a limited edition of 1008 units. You can buy one for 29.99 € under item number T9-43040 at the diecastcompany.nl.

Volvo Amazon 4-door & Volvo P1900 Sport by WhiteBox

The label WhiteBox has released last week a black over gray beige Volvo Amazon 4-door from model year 1957. The model features a beige interior as well as white wall tires. Volvo offered the two-tone paint scheme black (19) over gray beige (65) between 1957 and 1961 on the Amazons. Volvo's number for that paint combo was 50.

This 1:43 scale model is made of diecast and features some plastic parts. It is manufactured by Ixo in China. You can buy it for 21.95 € under item number WB062 (194609).

WhiteBox has released yesterday a white Volvo P1900 Sport from model year 1956. The model features a red interior, an open white soft hood as well as white wall tires. The Volvo P1900 is one of the few Volvo models not known by the grand public. It was however a very lovely design and it is a shame that production ceased after only 68 built cars. P1900 had, as did the Corvettes, a body made out of polyester. The body was reinforced with fiberglass and was mounted on a tubular-steel chassis.

This 1:43 scale model is made of diecast and features some plastic parts. It is manufactured by Ixo in China. You can buy it for 21.95 € under item number WB073 (195269).
