Volvo XC70 by Jahn3D

I have discovered a new Volvo scale model on Shapeways. Jahn3D is offering the Volvo XC70 o the model year 2015 in three different scales. You can order the XC70 either in 1:87 or a set of two in 1:148 and 1:160 scale. The 1:148 and 1:60 models can be ordered either in Frosted Ultra Detail or in Frosted Extreme Detail. The main difference being the size of the layers the models will be printed on the 3D printer. Smaller layers will result in slightly finer and more crisp details. The H0 (1:87) version is also available in the finish "white strong & flexible white nylon". I would like to remind you that these models need some extra work and most of all very fine sanding if you intend to paint them for your model railroad layout or even your showcase. The file who serves as source for this 3D printouts originates from the 3D model library of 3D CAD Browser.

A small Dutch company offers a couple Volvo's in smaller scales. They offer a Volvo 244, a Volvo 245 and a Volvo 264 in the scales 1:120 (TT-scale), 1:48 as well as 1:160 (N-scale), These three scales are very common amongst model railroader. The last release by RailNScale is a model of the Volvo 264TE "Top Executive". This model is so far only available in the scales 1:120 and 1:160. Two sets are available as well. The first consisting of a Volvo 244 DL, a 245 DL and a Volvo 264 GL. The second set features a Volvo 244 DL together with a Polar 470 caravan. This caravan is Sweden’s most successful caravan ever. The offered caracan model is from model-year 1977.

Each of these 3D-printed models are unpainted kits. They are not intended for children under 14.

The models are available trough Shapeways. This means that each model is printed when it is ordered. Shapeways has all facilities needed to sell and distribute 3D models all over the world.

The price of a model is calculated on the quantity (weight) of plastic need to print it.

Most kits are printed in Frosted Ultra Detail (FUD) or Frosted eXtreme Detail (FXD), which stands for a Polyjet UV Cured Acrylic Resin (max temp 80 °C). Models of FUD and FXD should be well cleaned before you can paint it. The FXD models have the finest detailing. Some models are printed in White Strong & Flexible (WSF). WSF is a polyamide (max temp 80 °C). Models of WSF can be painted easily.

Volvo Amazon 4-door by A2Models

The Dutch company A2Models has added a third Volvo model to their product range. A2Models has started back in 2011 producing car replicas in various scales via 3D Printing. The third Volvo model is the Volvo Amazon 4-door from model-year 1965. This model is available in six different scales: 1:76, 1:87, 1:100, 1:120, 1:160 and 1:200. The first two Volvo models offered by A2 Models were the Volvo PV544 and P1800. The prices for a model vary between 5.95 € and 17.95 € depending on the scale.
