You will be able to find here news about the latest Volvo scale models which have been announced or just been released. |
Here is a new toy for your kids. It's a Volvo V70 ride-on car. This way your kids can drive their own little Volvo. The electric car comes with a 6V-7Ah power engine and reaches an 'impressive' speed of 3-5km/h. The electric ride-on model works two ways : with a full function remote control for parents who's kids cannot reach the accelerator pedal or cannot yet control the car or it can be driven by the child using the car's controls. The Volvo costs between 229.99 £ ( ± 289 € ) and 299 £ ( ± 375 € ) on various websites in the UK. It comes complete with a UK charger and all the necessary accessories. I was so far only able to find this model on different websites in the UK. I totally ignore who is manufacturing this ride-on car.

JMK will be producing a second run of the Volvo 480ES for the Dutch website dutchart-models.nl. The resin kit in 1:87 scale will be the same as the previous run which has been released back in 2009. So this is your chance to get one of these great kits. It is very unlikely that these will be produced by a regular manufacturer in the coming years. The price of the kit will be 21.85 €. Where to buy : dutchart-models.nl or JMK Summary (not complete) of previous JMK models :
The first Volvo models in H0 scale by Neo Scale Models have appeared yesterday on Model Car World's website. Not only seven but eight different models are offered. Neo Scale Models has produced once again a model in an exclusive paint for the web-store Model Car World. It is in this case a black over blue metallic Volvo 262 Bertone which is offered in a limited run of 500 units. And the light blue metallic Volvo 244 DL is also offered as a limited edition of 500 models for Model Car World. This color was announced from the beginning but it was never mentioned that it will be a limited an exclusive model. The officially announced price in Europe is 28.90 € per model. The Volvo 244 DL is offered in four different colors typical of the 1970's. The big black bumpers seem well represented. But the overall look of the model is in my eyes not convincing. The main issue seems to be the front which looks quite strange. I guess that it is due to the way the scale model has been designed.
The Volvo 262 Bertone represents a model from the last run. Not every detail is 100% correct and the proposed colors where not all available for that model-year. The overall impression is my eyes once again not very convincing.
Here is a series of photos showing the limited run version for Model Car World. The model with the exclusive black over blue metallic paint scheme is limited to 500 units and is available under item # 171760. Source & copyright : modelcarworld.de & minicar87.de
The Italian company Arena Modelli has released a new 1:43 resin kit for a Volvo 142. The latest release includes all the necessary decals to finish the Volvo 142 as it was driven by Per Inge Walfridsson at the 1973 RAC Rally. Per Inge Walfridsson together with his co-pilot John Jensen were quite successful in the 1973 RAC season. The very detailed resin kit is available under item # Are645 for 65 €. Arena Modelli and various other resellers offer also built-up models. Prices for these models vary from 160 to 200 €. Source & copyright : arenamodelli.com
I have presented this new 1:18 Volvo 854 scale model earlier this year in a post ( see here ). The red Volvo with the number 5 represents the car which was driven by PETER BROCK in 1996 for the VOLVO DEALER TEAM in the ATCC ( Australian Touring Car Championship ). Here is a video presentation showing a pre-production model. It was released by Biante on YouTube on Monday, 30 July 2012. A precise release date of the scale model is still not known.
What NL means : The 'NL' base-plate is named as such because since a short period Mattel puts on the base-plate of Matchbox and Hotwheels models the zip code of the (legal) European head office which is located in 1186 MJ, 1, NL. According to European legislation manufacturers are obliged to put an address on the packaging in Europe. In the case of a complaint the customer has an address where he can send his comments. Why Mattel did it on the base-plate and not on the packaging remains a mystery. In any case all models produced after January 1, 2012 have that zip code on the base-plate. And because it’s a Dutch address it’s called the Dutch base-plate. Neo Scale Models announced at the Nürnberg toy fair in 2009 several Volvo models in H0 scale. It was first intended to produce normal plastic models. But very soon this idea was changed and resin models were announced. A lot of the models from other brands announced much later have in the meantime been released. But not one Volvo. This seems to change over the next weeks. Some resellers received the info by Neo Scale Models that seven different Volvo's will be distributed over the next few weeks. The Volvo 244 will be produced in four different colors and the 262 Bertone in three different colors. The officially announced price in Europe is 28.90 € per model.
