You will be able to find here news about the latest Volvo scale models which have been announced or just been released. |
Herpa has finally released the second production run of their Volvo P1800 model. This dark red metallic paint scheme is already the third color variant for the P1800 offered by Herpa. The H0 scale model is now available under item number 034906-002. The official retail price is 10.50 €. This H0 (1:87) scale model is made of plastic. I'm however disappointed to see that Herpa has chosen to offer their scale model in a red paintwork which has never been offered by Volvo. The Volvo P1800 was available in two different red shades. The paint codes were red # 70 and red # 46. The tint offered by Herpa doesn't come close to one of these two red shades. The reason for this wrong paint is a screwed up paint code before the model went into production. Herpa discovered their mistake but it was already way too late to switch over to a more correct color. JMK will produce a second run of the Volvo V40 next week. There has been more interest in his kit than expected. The H0 ( 1:87) resin kit will be ready for shipping in two or three weeks. The retail price will be 20 € & shipping costs. The Volvo V40 made by JMK is a resin kit which needs to be painted and mounted by the customer. R-t-r versions will not be offered. Each kit consist of the following parts : the body, the base with seats and dashboard, turning wheels and separate glazing. These are very clean resin kits which do need just a minimum of cleaning. I will contact all those who have reserved a kit to arrange payment and shipping. But please resend me once again your name and address. There was a tiny bug in the reservation template and I can't see your complete name and address. Thank you. Several Volvo fans are interested in ordering a new run of the Volvo V40 by JMK. This H0 (1:87) model was offered for the first time a few years ago by JMK. JMK is asking at least a dozen reservations before they will produce a new run. A new baseplate and those white window cardboard boxes on your left are the reason why Volvo's web-shop is offering their new 1:87 scale models at a price three times more expensive than the regular retail price. These are in fact the same models Herpa is offering for 10.50 €. Volvo is in fact asking 38.70 € for one model. It's up to you to decide whether those little white boxes are worth the 28 € or not. And no ... it's not April 1st yet. Volvo's merchandising department is offering two new 1:87 scale models. This is indeed a surprise to see that Volvo is now also offering H0 models in their web-shop. They are starting with the Volvo P1800 in light blue and the Volvo P1800 ES in gold metallic. Both models are fixed on a black plastic base. Herpa, and not Norev as I initially wrote, is producing these plastic scale models. I do not know who had the fabulous idea to take regular Herpa models and to sell them for three times the regular retail price. They take us for a bunch of idiots.
!!! Please do not buy these models from Volvo's web-shop. They are way too expensive !!! Sources & copyright :

The Volvo 780 in beige metallic will be a special color release for minicar87 which is the H0-scale branch of Modelcarworld.
