NEW RELEASES |
You will be able to find here news about the latest Volvo scale models which have been announced or just been released. |
Most of you being scale model enthusiast have probably followed the news from this years toy show in Nürnberg (Germany).
Well my article is not yet finished but I can offer you a tiny teaser. Most companies do offer each year a scale model from their program range as a limited edition to their clients visiting them ant their booths in Nürnberg. Most wear the logo of the Nürnberg toy show and feature especially decorated boxes and/or dedicated and labeled bases. This year is of course no exception but we rarely see a Volvo among those limited editions. Wiking however has produced this year the Volvo PV544 in H0 (1:87) in a limited edition of only 750 units for this years toy fair. The Volvo PV544 i painted white and features a red interior. The car has the toy fair logo printed in red on both sides doors and the window box has a red base with the text "Limited Edition" written next to the logo. It is not the fanciest model around but some people do love to collect those limited editions. And sometimes prices can go up in time for these models. But I wouldn't bet on it. Up to you if you think that this is a must-have.

This years International Toy Fair in Nürnberg opened his doors from January 28 to February 2, 2015. Nürnberg welcomes each year the world’s biggest toy fair. Other well known toy fairs are held in New York (US), Chicago (US), Hong-Kong (CN) & Shanghai (CN). The usual manufacturers which are already known to produce Volvo models have once again showed some news. I guess teh most awaited model will be the Volvo S60 STCC as well as the Volvo V60 Polestar. Motorart presented a couple of pre-preduction models of these two models. The Australian label Apex Replicas had announced the STCC version of the S60 already last year. see here Here are all the news I was told about in alphabetical order : BoS-Models This 1:18 scale Volvo PV445 Duett is for sure another great surprise and I bet many will be glad to add this model one day to their showcase. 1:18
Kalee electric ride one
This electric ride on is not a newly produced and/or announced model. I have presented this model back in 2012 click here. Minichamps Minichamps has a rather nice surprise by announcing a classic Volvo in 1:18 : the Volvo 240 GL. Minichamps will produce beside this newly tooled model a few longtime known 1:43 models in new colors. But what about release dates? How long are we already waiting for the fourth color of the Volvo P1800ES in 1:18? Way too many years in my eyes. 1:18

You can read Minichamps complete news-list by clicking here. Motorart Motorart has not completely stopped to offer Volvo cars. They have announced the Volvo V60 Polestar as well as the Volvo S60 STCC in various versions. The photos do show so far only pre-production models! 1:10
Neo Scale Models Neo Scale Models has presented only the Volvo 145 Polis which has already been manufactured and delivered to shops. But this doesn't mean anything. Their new company policy to announce models only when they are nearly finished and ready to be shipped to retailers and shops. 1:43
Norev Norev has presented three known models in new colors. It's quite a shame that their communication is very poor. 1:43
Oxford Diecast The British company Oxford Diecast has presented their first Volvo scale car. They have already a small number of modern Volvo trucks in their program. The first Volvo car they will offer is the classic 1st generation Volvo 245 estate. The model will be available in the very British scale of 1:76 which railroad modelers often call OO Gauge. The first color will be green. It might be in stock between April 2015 & June 2015. More color schemes will follow at a later date. 1:76 / OO Gauge
Premium-X Models / Ixo / PCT Collectibles The label Premium-X continues with presenting photos of already announced Volvo models. There are however a few new models in between those : Volvo S80 in dark green metallic, Volvo 440 in silver metallic, Volvo 740 'Polis Stockholm' (S) and a red Volvo 855R. There will be certainly more news since they will offer every Volvo which will be offered in the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas in new colors and/or liveries. Ixo is in fact producing all the models for the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas. 1:43
Triple9Collection The Dutch label Triple9Collection continues with presenting photos of already announced Volvo models. A couple new models will certainly be announced this year. 1:43
Volvo 440 ''Rijkspolitie''
Volvo 440 ''Rijkspolitie District Alkmaar - Noord Holland''
Welly Welly has announced that they will offer the all-new Volvo X90 in two typical toy model scales : 1:36 and 1:64. They showed so far only photos of the actual car. So we have to wait for further info's regarding these models. 1:36
1:64
WhiteBox The label WhiteBox showed three Volvo's. Two of them - the Volvo P1900 Sport and the 145 estate - have already been announced. But it is the first time that we can see a photo of an upcoming Volvo P1800Es in blue metallic. 1:43

Courtesy of Mr Atlas & www.auto-und-modell.de The Nürnberg Toy Fair has closed the doors for 2014. I was not attending myself this big event. But I had the huge luck that a professional took the time to check for us what's new on the Volvo front. Just lay back and read his well detailed and very informative summary of all the upcoming models for 2014. Spielwarenmesse Nürnberg 2014 Nurnberg International Toy Fair is the biggest one in the world with more than 2'700 exhibitor from all over the world, 170.000 m² and all kind of toys from the teddy bear to the electronic game, and obviously the biggest model car producers. This fair is not open to the public but only for professionals (distributors, retailers, producers). During 3 days walking in all those halls, with several meetings for my business, I was lucky to have also time to see what our suppliers, for us Volvo model car enthusiasts, will bring new this year. The result is a little bit disappointing. Is that because they don’t want to show the novelties too early? Are some brands waiting before using the new developments made by Atlas? Just to remember, the brands IXO Models, PremiumX, White Box, Ist Models, Fox Toys and other distributors’ special brands are mostly produced by the same supplier: PCT, so they can use the tooling with some changes. Editions Atlas, as they don’t sell through a traditional retailer net, doesn’t expose there. So we have to wait for the regular information they give to Michelle here. The good news are that the collection will be increased up to 60 models and that it will be distributed in some new countries like Germany and France fr instance. The next step will be Great-Britain. What do you think about it? On the PCT booth, only 4 new Volvo were shown : a really nice 145 Express Ambulance ( Dutch livery ) with a new front grille and a detailed interior, a 142 in a new colour, a 66 Combi in yellow and the ÖV4 in black. They also announce the 262 C Bertone in silver with black roof in their catalogue. All these models will be released this year under the brand PremiumX. On the Replicars/Speidel/Modelcarworld booth were shown the already announced Volvo Amazon Coune convertible by NEO Scale Models, by the brand White Box the Amazon 4 doors in black and cream, the Duett P210 blue and cream and the P1900 in white, the PV444 in dark red is also announced but they only shown the 244 in blue metallic. So far nothing new in H0 scale ( 1:87 ) : only the 244 and 262C were exposed. Norev is showing the new collection of Volvo's on their booth: S60, V60, XC60, V70, XC70, S80 and the concept car Concept Coupé. The Concept XC Coupé is announced as well as a new concept model for the Geneva Motor Show 2014 (Geneva Motor Show, 6-16 march 2014, in Geneva, Switzerland). They also show the P1800 in red ( diecast version ) as already announced here. Minichamps announces a 240 GL (244) in a Norwegian Politi ( Police ) decoration. Minchamps show besides that some already announced and released models in their 2014 catalogue: 240 GL break in light green metallic, 850 break in silver, 121 Amazon 4 doors in white, 121 Amazon 2 doors in bright blue and 121 Amazon break in black. You can read Minichamps complete news-list by clicking here. Motormax just shows the “old” XC60 as a plastic model in 1:18. Matrix Models just shows the 245 Transfer in black. In conclusion, we are pretty well informed by Michelle here and no real scoop is announced except the new concept for the Geneva Motorshow. Dimitri, 01.02.2014 Thank you so much Dimitri for your excellent work. I like to thank you in the name of every Volvo fan for the time and sweat you have put into this report. I would like to add some personal notes : Matrix Scale Models : No Volvo news from Nürnberg by Matrix Scale Models ? There have been some rumours ahead of the toy fair and everybody was expecting at least one new announcement. And so many guys are waiting for a white painted Volvo 245 Transfer. Wait and see ? Perhaps. Minichamps : What about the longtime announced 1:18 scale Volvo P1800 in dark green ?
Neo Scale Models : What about the longtime announced Volvo 780 in H0 ( 1:87 ) scale ?

The Nürnberg Toy Fair hasn't brought up many news this year. In fact not one new Volvo has been presented. The few new models have already been announced ahead of this years toy fair. Here is a short summary of all the upcoming models for 2013. BoS-Models - 1:18 Model Car World has announced a 1989 Volvo 245 GL which will be released under their newly created label BoS-Models. This shortcut stands for 'Best of Show'. The 1:18 scale model will be made of resin and only 1000 units will be exclusively produced for Model Car World by the French company OttOmobile. A precise release date is not yet known.
Matrix Scale Models - 1:43 The newly founded company Matrix Scale Models has also announced ahead of the Toy Fair three new and rather unusual Volvo models. These 1:43 scale cars will be made of resin and will only be available as rtr versions. A sale price has not yet been published but they seem to be released during the second and third quarter of 2013. The announced Volvo's are :
Minichamps - 1:43 & 1:18 Minichamps is finally at the point to release the two 1:43 scale Volvo 242 Turbo models. The first ( item # 400861701 ) is already available and the second ( item # 400851753 ) should follow this month. Another long awaited model - the P1800ES in 1:18 scale - should normally be released late this summer. Minichamps hasn't however announced any new Volvo models. Is this the end of an era ?
Neo Scale Models - 1:87A few sources say that Neo Scale Models will stop offering H0 models. But he following six models which have already been announced a long long time ago and are still listed on Neo's slightly redesigned website. Their facebook page has however been off-line for some days now.
Neo Scale Models - 1:43 cars All the following 1:43 scale models have also previously been announced. Only a few new colors and liveries have showed up on Neo's website. Precise release dates have not been published.
Neo Scale Models - 1:43 trucks Neo Scale Models has also announced several classic Volvo truck models. I was not yet able to find more infos about the exact model-years and truck types.
Premium-X - 1:43 Premium-X will release in the next weeks the four models they have already announced last summer. They are however to my surprise not even featured in their catalog for 2013. My guess is that more models already available in the 'Volvo Collection' will show up in the future as slightly improved versions in IXO's and/or Premium-X standard program.
We can certainly expect a few more Volvo scale models from other well known brands. I suppose that most will be only new colors and liveries. But we also learned from the past that one or the other surprise can show up at any given time. Don't hesitate to leave me a line if you should have seen any other model not yet listed or mentioned above. This is a short updated presentation of the announced news which I was able to find out : Herpa - 1:87 Herpa shows the P1800 which will be available very soon in the shops.
IXO - 1:43 IXO showed the models of the Volvo Collection which are sold through Editions Atlas. The next two releases were also visible in the showcase :
Minichamps - 1:43 Minichamps has not announced one single new Volvo scale model for 2012. I guess that they will release first the models that have already been announced in 2009, 2010 and 2011. The following already finished models were shown :
Both Volvo 242 Turbo have already been shown last year on the Minichamps booth. Previously announced 1:43 models that still have to be released :
Minichamps - 1:18 Previously announced 1:18 models that still have to be released :
Motorart Motorart is presenting trucks, buses and construction equipment in various scales ( 1:50, 1:43, 1:87 ). Up to now I wasn't able to find info's about new 1:43 model car releases from Motorart. I presume that they will release a 1:43 model of the new V40 which will be launched in Geneva this spring. The Motorart homepage has been updated and a new catalogue is announced. But all the model cars have disappeared from the website. Neo Scale Models - 1:43
Neo Scale Models - 1:87 The following models have already been announced in 2010 and 2011 :
