Volvo 142 by Editions Atlas

An upcoming model in the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas will most probably be a Volvo 142 from 1973. This model has appeared in an auction in China. This was in the past always a sign that the same model will be released in a near future here in Europe.

This is indeed a little frustrating since the previously released model of the Volvo 144 was also wearing a similar red paint.

This picture is not a 1972 model, it's a 1973 model

Yes, it can easily be seen by the larger front direction indicators (blinkers) that were introduced on the '73. The door handles were changed in '72 (I think) to inset ones.
So the earlier released 144 may well be a '71 as stated, with small direction indicators and protruding handles.
So this rather un-inspired release of 142 is at least different in some respects. Small things to be happy for....

I have enough love for all Volvos so I don't really mind that it is a bit similar to the earlier released 144.

As long as Atlas doensn't release a first model S40 I look forward to every model.

It's best to forget the S40, I'm sure you will all agree ;-)

Hi Jörgen,

Well you can't buy this model in a store. All the models featured in the Volvo Collection can only be obtained by buying/subscribing to the complete collection.
And you have to live in one of the following countries : Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands and Belgium.

The collection will be available anytime soon in Germany and eventually other German-speaking countries. Please check back and follow my NEWS for future updates.

Another way is to wait a while and to buy the 142 in the regular IXO / Premium-X program. All the models of the Volvo Collection will appear one day in a different color in their regular program.

Hi Michelle, is this actually the IXO model? I'm wondering to use the '69-'70 parts to make a '69 142 out of two models, creating my own car....

Hey Raymond,

Well IXO did indeed both models. But I can't tell you that they used twice the same mould.

I don't have the version from the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas myself.

I just have a couple of the Taxi versions IXO once offered.

So I really can't tell you for sure if your idea will work.
You may give it a try. I don't think that the detail parts have such big differences in size.

Well I guess they at least used the same measurements, otherwise a taxi will be losing 2 doors..
