ModelCarWorld has released today the Volvo 144 by WhiteBox. This 1:43 scale model is made by IXO. The diecast model is painted a light blue metallic and features a black interior. They pretend that it represents a car from 1966. It is a limited edition run of 1008 pieces. The model is available for 21.95 € under item number 186675. The car is packed in a white and black cardboard window box. The same Volvo 144 has previously been available in various colors and packaging versions as well as under different brands and labels. There are many odd details on this one, I think. The wheel hubs, the bumpers, the entire front just to mention a few. The price is a little higher than the 144 in the Editions Atlas collection, but their model is much more true to the real car, although not perfect. Living in Sweden I have seen enough 144's to know that if something like the Whitebox car appeared on the road, it was a rebuilt car by someone not to experienced in customizing...

Hallo, this is the mould for Altaya but simpler and not for Atlas. There are many differences between the two moulds.

Yes, I think we all understand this is not for Atlas. The comparision with Atlas is that 21:95€ is quite an overprice for a model of such low quality. And why make a limited edition of 1008 pieces, making it sound like something unique? It's not, it is a rather bad impression of a non-complicated model that I maybe would pay 2:95€ for, not more.

Well the good news is that you do have the choice and that you do not have to buy every released model.

Yes, if you want the Volvos from Atlas you are stuck with everyone of them. That is the negative side of it. If you choose to reject a model the subscription stops, I imagine. And you would have to search the Internet....
