NEW RELEASES |
You will be able to find here news about the latest Volvo scale models which have been announced or just been released. |
The number forty-nine in the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas is the Volvo 240 SE estate in the livery of the Swedish Police (Polis) of Stockholm. The Volvo is painted white (paint code 189) and features a black leather interior. The license plate reads 'LNO 996'. As you may know I don't know much about Police cars. I can't tell you therefore if the decorations of this scale model are correct or not. Those of you who have paid attention to the release numbers may have noticed that model 48 is still missing. Number 48 (N° 8 506 048) will be shipped after this release which wears number N° 8 506 049. The reason for this switch are logistical issues in China. Update:

The decorations look alright in general, but the rather light blue stripes and text look very dark. In real life it is fluorescent, I think (as is the yellow). Let's hope it is just a photographic error.

Do you know if it is a "real" police car just borrowed for the movie, or is it a fake? Maybe not so funny for Editions Atlas if it is just a movie car. By the way, for those who don't know: the movie Byhåla is kind of a comedy about "youth" in old American cars roaming the streets... or in this case the countryside(?), often the police kept an eye on them ;-)

I think its a real police car, i dont think they had a big budget for movie cars so they probably hired a real car

The Polis-model looks good and much better than the code 3 Polis-models by Skandinavisk Mofeltrafik on a Minichamps base. However the real model has a ventilation on the roof for the dog and an antenna on the left side post/pillar in the back. I still miss a white and blue Volvo police-car in the 1:43 scale.

For God's sake, I hope that the model 48 is finally some green military vehicle. Perhaps TP21 :-)

Thank you so much Mr Atlas for revealing and confirming the release of a TP21 in the Volvo Collection. I'm sure many will be glad to notice that this Volvo will be offered.

Ive read that Volvo 245s used as K9-units at the Swedish police always had a extra vent (round) on the roof to get rid of the dog smell, the model does not paper to have this.
