Volvo 244DL Anniversary 1927-1977 by Editions Atlas

The number seventy-three in the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas is the Volvo 244 DL Anniversary from 1977. Volvo released this model to celebrate its fiftieth anniversary. Based on the 244DL, the Anniversary Car was finished in metallic silver with a black and gold band around the waistline. Around 50 were sold in ten different countries, taking the total number produced up to 500.

Looks like a nice model with some small issues but maybe this is a prototype. It has wrong front grill this came -78 and it har a red stripe on rear bumber but front bumber should have a white stripe //Anders

You are right, Anders. And not. It seems that different countries had slightly different configurations. But a car with a red stripe at the rear bumber should have a white stripe in front.
But there are cars with no stripes at all on the bumpers, like the car on the folder that comes with the model. See picture:

But there is also an American version, and maybe more.That means also different front grilles.
What about the model then? Red stripe back bumper, no stripe front bumper. A mix that never was?
A nice detail on the model: The metal anniversary plaque on the glove compartment is there! Very cool.

Well the front white and rear red stripes are labels. They could have been added at a later date or someone may have removed those.
It's hard to tell if it is/was standard on the car when it has been delivered. The original sales catalogs/flyers may give us a correct answer. Sorry but I don't have one on hands to check.

I do have however those stripes on my 1978 244 GL and they are now heavily damaged due to age. So it is understandably that some car owners may have get rid of 'em ever since.

This model might not be perfect, but if you compare you'll see that the grille is not the same as on the 1978 244 available in this very same Volvo Collection from Editions Atlas (#35 244DL "Blue Star"). The chrome framing the grille has not been changed the way it should (looks pretty much the same on both, I think), but the diagonal line is different and makes it easy to see which is which.
