An upcoming model in the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas will be a blue Volvo 240 Polar from 1992. This model has appeared in an auction in China. This was in the past always a sign that the same model will be released in a near future here in Europe. The name Polar stands for a special trim level which was offered only in Europe back in 1991 and 1992 on the Volvo 240. It had typically special “cold weather” features such as heated mirrors, heated seats, and a limited slip differential.

Living in Sweden, I was a little surprised. Polar, what's that? After checking the links above and some other sites I know better. The Polar variant was sold in Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and maybe a few more countries in Europe. It was equipped as the standard models were in i.e. Scandinavia, where we obviously have a Polar climate (no, there's no polar bears in Stockholm...).
