Volvo Amazon Polis (S) by Editions Atlas

The number thirty-eight in the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas is a Volvo Amazon Polis (S). The 4-door Volvo Amazon is decorated in the typical colors of the Swedish Police forces.

The following photos do show a pre-production model !

Personal note :
I have really not enough knowledge of Police cars and liveries. I just can't tell you if this scale model is correct in every tiny detail and if all the lights, sirens, mirrors as well as the Police lettering are in the right place. Any help is welcome.

It looks almost the same as Minichamps version, even though that one has 2 doors I think. Can we get Swedish police cars with Volvo 244, 245. 144, 145, 740 and 745 and some newer ones as well. That would be super. Especially the 240-series with the eighties livery. Those ones would be smashing!

The Minichamps Volvo I know of has a white roof, no red lights, no extra rear mirrors and the word POLIS only on the front doors. It has four doors so maybe they have other variants too.
This one seems to be from an selected car judging from the authentic number plate. Most Amazon police cars I have seen in Sweden had the word POLIS in larger letters under the chrome strip.
I think it is a fine addition to a Volvo Collection.

Minichamps made some different version, but we choose one they didn't made to be more interessant.

S. Martin, good work finding that photo. It shows that Editions Atlas has done a good job, I think. I believe the car in the movie is "the real thing" and not a fake movie replica.
However, Editions Atlas has missed the radio antenna on the roof, but I can live with that...

Think the car looks great but one big misstake with POLIS the letters should be large and placed under the chrome trim think the Minichamp is more correct

Forgot to tell you about the wheels, the chrome trims was first in 1967 so the correct would be grey wheels...

Hi Mr. Atlas, Do not change anything, the 1/43 car is a correct model of a Polis Amazon from the Swedish movie "Att angöra en brygga" from 1965. Good work :)

Hi guys,

Well I really don't know anything about Police cars and their various liveries.

I did some researches on the web for this post and I found numerous photos with different liveries. The Volvo Amazon seemed to have many different livery versions between the mid 1950's til the end of the 1960's.

Is there anybody out there who knows more about all these different liveries ? I think it would be very interesting to know which livery was used in which year.

Just let me know.

Aboute the Amazon in the Movie "Att angöra en brygga" from 1965" the car is pre 1963 car, the Police uppdated to bigger letters 1963/64 when the logotype were changed in Place and size.
The Minichamp and also the Revell 1/18 model are correct in the letters and position. The Wheel trims were first relised as option an options catalogs 1966 and were standard on the Amazon 123GT from Augusti 1966.

Hi guys,
The model is correct except for:
- POLIS lettering on the doors should be a bit larger and wider (compare photo)
- Rims should be grey, not chrome
- Type face on registration plates is not correct (very irritating!)
- Extra rear view mirror on right side missing (intended for the officer on the passenger seat)
