Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas launched in Switzerland (D)

Editions Atlas has launched yesterday the Volvo Collection in Switzerland. The Volvo Collection is now available for the German speaking regions in Switzerland. The release of the Volvo Collection in French (folders with French text) will follow in a couple of days.

The first model which you will receive will be the Volvo P1800 from model-year 1966. You can buy this 1:43 scale model for only 6.90 CHF. And you will not only receive the Volvo P1800 but also a poster as well as a booklet showing and explaining the history of this iconic car. The second release in Switzerland will be the Volvo Amazon with 4-doors and the third model will be the Volvo PV444. Each of the four first models will be delivered with a free gift. The subsequent models will be those who are actually being delivered in the four other countries where the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas had started back in autumn 2011. Ein echter Fernsehstar!

Erinnern Sie sich noch an den Volvo P1800, das formschöne Sportcoupé der 1960er-Jahre – dessen Kombi-Ausführung im Volksmund „Schneewittchensarg“ genannt wurde? Seine Entstehungsgeschichte ist alles andere als geradlinig. Es brauchte mehrere Anläufe in bewährten Karosserieschmieden wie Frua und Karmann, bis der erste P1800 beim britischen Automobilhersteller Jensen vom Band rollte – und zu einem der erfolgreichsten und schönsten Volvo-Modelle der Geschichte wurde!

Weltberühmt wurde der Sportwagen ab 1962 als „Dienstfahrzeug“ von Roger Moore in 118 Episoden der Fernsehserie Simon Templar. Nachdem die Lieferzeiten für den ursprünglich geplanten Jaguar Type E für die Filmproduktion zu lang wurden, kontaktierte Moore auf eigene Faust Volvo in London. Fünf Tage später wurde ihm der zweite Prototyp des neuen Sportcoupés zur Verfügung gestellt.
