Volvo P210 Duett by Editions Atlas

The twenty-third model in the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas is the Volvo P210 Duett from 1960. It will be the upcoming model in Norway.

You will say that there has already been a Duett in this collection. But in fact the shape of the front-end and especially the area around the windshield are different between both versions. This difference in shape has however not always been correctly reproduced in the various existing scale models. We will have to wait and see how Editions Atlas will perform.

Nevertheless it is a disappointment, since there are so many interesting older Volvo models that could be chosen. But Editions Atlas have done similar things before, like P1800 and P1800ES, PV444 and PV544. The older Duett was based on PV444, maybe this Duett is based on the PV544?
Also, Duett is popular with other model makers, which also makes it less interesting.
If 30 models is the goal for this series, I hope Editions Atlas have more exciting types for the remaining seven models....

Seems they have been using some older molds from other manufatures to save money. Only the oldest Volvos in the series that do not exist from other mass producing makers. Was hoping to get some new models that don't exist, like the 142, the 79 244 and 245, the 264/265 and so on, but seems like it will be mainstream all the way to 30 models.
Have read somewhere that their Dinky vollection continued at least to 44 models, even it was supposed to stop at 40.
Would no mind getting 40 or better 50 models in thos series, maybe we could get a bigger range of models then :)

Well it would be indeed more interesting to see models that have never been offered in the past. But I think this is rather unlikely since there goal is rather to offer models known by the majority of the collectors. Many of us have quite complete collections with often rather high quality models. But there are also some new customers who have only a few Volvo models. Either because they just started collecting or because they were afraid of the sometimes quite expensive prices of some low mass models.

And I think that Ixo is also looking further into the future and tries to select car models that can be offered after under there own label. They have already released the first 4 models ( PV444, Amazon, 164 ) a few weeks ago. I'm sure that most already featured in the Volvo Collection by Editions Atlas will show up in the coming months and years.

Editions Atlas has sometimes extended the total number of a collection when it was well accepted by the customers. But some collections have also been canceled earlier because the collection wasn't a success. The biggest collection so far was the one with the 2CV who ended with some 150 different models. But many were of course just new liveries.

Most other collections feature something between 50 and 70 models. But it is in my opinion unlikely that the Volvo Collection will reach such numbers.

I agree on that. When I first started the subscription, out of the 4 models i received, 2 were Amazon sedans.. :-)

You won't hear me complaining though because the models like the Carioca, the PV60, PV52 are in my opinion real highlights and also the main reason I started this subscription.

I'm curious to see if they will release a 66 (the "DAF" Volvo...)

I also agree with Michelle. I am what you can call a casual collector. I love to find cheap models at fleamarkets (I once found a Tonka/Polistil 780 for 1 euro!) and occasionally buy a more high-end model from Minichamps for example. But the really nice stuff like Brooklin and RobEddie is just too expensive for me.

Hi, we can notice that Atlas made old models of Robeddie. The Robeddie are a little expensive but are mostly unobtainable for some models.
The 343 who had never been made for the vintage (except Tonka-Polistil is more a toy than a model of collection), Neo has made the 340 phase 2.
If Atlas decides to make all Volvo, it will take some time to have everything, I have personally currently some 170 models all differents and some models do not yet exist in miniature.
The Volvo 142 from 1973 that did not exist before, there was 142 in 1967 and 142 in 1972 both André Model. (Rarities too)

I hope I did not make a mistake! ! !

But it is true that Atlas manufactures models that already exist but that have become untraceable and models that have never been made in miniature.
But wait and see, maybe Atlas will make a Tundra, an Elizabeth 1, Elizabeth 2, or 960 phase 1, we can dream.
