The four 1:43 scale models which Premium-X already announced last year should be released anytime soon. They will be available for 49.50 $ each.

have you seen the emblems on the left door from the 164?

Hi Michel,

Yes I do have seen this issue and a few others :
- the uneven trim on the rear of the left side
- missing rear-view mirrors
- too large holes for the windscreen wipers

I preferred for once to minimize my remarks about quality issues regarding these new models since I have noticed that some people think that I'm too critical.

In my opinion this point can't be neglected.
What do you think ?

Hi Michelle! I think the Amazons look great, except for one thing.. The far away to big chrome strip over the doors, especially on the red one. Pehaps it will be fixed later before delivery. Regards Jonas

Hi Jonas,

Indeed the chrome trim looks a little bit too large on the Amazon. I presume that it will stay like that. These trims are not specially applied parts but are printed on the body. I guess that it is more ( too ? ) expensive and complicate for the manufacturer to apply a correct trim.
We will see.

And what do You think about the wrong boot handle on the rear of the Amazon red/white 1956 version ? The first version fitted a split boot handle....

This error has already been noticed and previously discussed in a different place. It is of course a shame that the models will be released with such obvious errors.

The PV444 came only in black atleast for the first year of production. So the colour chosen here is all wrong, made just to sell models.
I buy these if I get them cheap.

Hi Vegar,

Yes it is a shame hat some manufacturer have some trouble to release a correct scale model these days.
It should be an easy task these days with all the infos available on the web to design a correct product, I do ignore if they are just too lazy or if they just don't care what they put on the market.
It is indeed a no go since they are clearly marketed as collector models and not as toys.
As I have already mentioned in other posts I just see one way do make that clear to the manufacturers/importers : just don't buy them.
But since many people do not have the more expensive models from Tin Wizard, Bo Andre, Somerville, ... in their showcase they just opt for these new products which are perhaps not as correct but less expensive.

My choice is made.

These look to be the same as the ones from the Volvo Collection by Atlas. They might not be as correct as the really expensive ones but they sure make a nice addition to the casual collector. Even if some really obvious details are not correct, they still look really nice in my display cabinet.

By the way: keep up the good work. Love your site!! I'm always curious about the updates and it is by far the best page on Volvo scale models!
